There are actually two tracks on this album that meet the criteria - and at 23m this is the short one! |

A lot of Joni fans don’t rate this album - Don Juan's Reckless Daughter - but I do. |

Leger de Main was a Rush-influenced trio formed by the Rodler brothers (Chris on all guitars and bass, Brett on drums) and lead vocalist Melissa Blair. They recorded only two albums. "Enter Quietly" is from their first album, The Concept of Our Reality. It plays as one uninterrupted track on the CD. |

Hi, Joni was a tough one for a lot of stations in those days ... too jazzy to be "cool" and "hip" and not stony enough to be "with it" ... but listening to it these days, one has to consider her "progressive" since almost no one was doing anything remotely as interesting and different within what sometimes might be considered folk material ... with a jazz'y feel that was very different. This is a superb album that deserves more mentions and attention, if it were not for the fact that we are too much into a "sound", and not the music itself. This is much better than the copykat/cookie cutter material that has the mandated instruments and sounds like ..... BTW ... consider the musicians on it ... makes a lot of our top anything ... not even interesting!!!! Joni Mitchell Jaco Pastorius John Guerin Wayne Shorter Airto Moreira Larry Carlton ... and on backing vocals in various pieces ... Chack Khan, Glenn Frey, J. D. Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Would like to know what the OP took from these great suggestions. So many fine choices for sure.
When I think of ‘Female fronted Prog’, my initial thoughts veer towards Renaissance, Jefferson Airplane, Curved Air, Spirogyra, and my faves - Magenta. And then some. |

At 11 minutes, Android Domina by Japanese prog chicks Ars Nova may be little short, however length may prove irrelevant.

You people are on it: Renaissance and Vak and Joni and Nil
and "Tenemos" and Kate and Gilli--you're definitely covering
some of my favorites. There must be something to add with Anneke Van Giersbergen or Amy Darby or Pascale Son. Here's one: or this one: or this one: or Jane Siberry: |
