2016:

I thought this would make for an interesting list. I wanted to do some shorter ones from the albums that somehow work together for me reasonably well -- not in this order so much, but I went alphabetically by band/artist name.

David Bowie - "Girl Loves Me"

Kosmischer Läufer - "Der Traum des Jungen"*

Radiohead - "The Numbers"

Swans - "When Will I Return"

Xiu Xiu - "Packard's Vibration"

* Note: I list that K.L. album as being from 2015, but PA lists it as 2016. When it poses as music of another "era", I don't know that it matters much anyway.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment.

Great selection - didn't know Kosmischer Laeufer and the Xiu Xiu track (the latter I like, the former not so much). That Radiohead album is quite good and deserves more airtime, all too easily forgotten after the iconic stuff they had done before. But the David Bowie and Swans albums are two real giants in my world, with great tracks picked. I go for Swans here as Bowie will have enough votes without my help.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to that not known and comment on various selections.

I love all of these, not surprisingly. Off that Kosmischer Läufer album, my favourite track is "Jenseits des Horizonts" but that is also the longest. I really like the story behind the project and how evocative it is off past music (a style and era that I enjoy very much). I did a topic on
Retro-Music Pretending to be of the Past
highlighting Kosmischer Läufer and Klaus Morlock. I had planned to include a track from Klaus Morlock's Penumbra here, but only found the whole EP on youtube rather than specific tracks to embed.

Bowie's Blackstar and Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool I got very soon after release, and I got very much back into Blackstar last year. I have not listened to the Radiohead nearly as much as the Bowie. Other than Blackstar, that Xiu Xiu album, Plays the Music of Twin Peaks, may be the album that I have most listened to over the last year (I did get quite obsessed with things Twin Peaks related).   While I have not seen anyone else make the comparisons/ association, music of Xiu Xiu is reminiscent to me in part of various Swans, Current 93, and Boredoms music. As for Swans, that track probably is my favourite of these right now. After hearing Soundtracks for the Blind, I got into Swans in a very big way. Then I got The Seer, To Be Kind, and Children of God (those Swans albums I have heard the most). I still haven't listened to The Glowing Man* much, which is part of the reason why I tend to favour Swans in this poll now.

Speaking of "glowing", the sky here was an odd purplish colour yesterday evening after the sun had set.

So, I will pick The Numbers then... Great album it is, that Radiohead album.
Nice list and listen, indeed, these five tracks. If I remember well, Kosmischer Läufer did already walk by in one of the earlier (interactive?) polls. I like all five tracks here, but I'm saying to myself that I may have to explore Xiu Xiu a bit further (they too came by in an earlier poll, I think...).

^ An excellent choice, but then I would say that, and you remember correctly. I probably mentioned another track off the same Kosmischer Läufer album ("Jenseits des Horizonts") or possibly "Sandtrommel" from KL's Volume One, and I mentioned Xiu Xiu's "Blue Frank / Pink Room" in my Heaven Sent and Hell Bent interactive poll and nominated "Into the Night", both from the same Xiu Xiu album, in an interactive poll of cover songs. I love that Xiu Xiu album.

^ And I forgot to say that that Xiu Xiu video didn't work for me, so I looked for another one: this one does work...

^ And that one doesn't work for me. Regions, shmegions.

Just to see them all get a vote, which is nice to see, I'll vote for "Packard's Vibration".

I know and like/love them all. I voted for Der Traum des Jungen. It's simply just a (for me) timeless, stunning little instrumental that I find very uplifting somehow. Man, those gorgeous themes! I must have played it more than fifty times.

Bowie, just over Swans.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

So, of these, I like the Kosmischer Läufer track the best. Bowie is not far behind and Xiu Xiu would be my third choice. Coming into this I had only heard the Bowie and Radiohead tracks, so three new songs now under my belt.

I'm very pleased to see it get multiple votes and appreciation. I love it, and listening again since it had been a while, it still resonates strongly with me.

Glad to see someone who already knew and liked all of these and someone who discovered new music. Aside from exposure, I like doing these exercise because it gets me listening to and thinking about music I already knew again when I go through the process of thinking about which albums to mention when I think, "Hey, maybe I'll make another poll since I can't sleep" and in choosing tracks from them.

Will return to listen to the Losmiscer Laufer track, as all the others are a pass for me.

I like that Bowie track best of what I know but there's a couple I need to check out.

^ Hope you appreciate those, John.

^^ Phil, if I'm not too late, I'd recommend you pass on it and save yourself the 3:40 plus listening time as I doubt that you would appreciate the electronic track.  Mind you, you could probably tell if it's something that you might like in much less time, but I waive any and all responsibility if you decide to listen and it's another "pass" as I think it would be.  :)

I'd have to spend some time with the two I didn't know to be fair(one listen for me) but in the end I surprised myself and picked Radiohead.
