Thanks for that, Lewian! I've been a big fan for over ten years and I hadn't a clue! (I generally tune out each year's music for the first six months as it helps me get my sanity back from the usual year-end rush.) I'm listening to it for the first time right now! Great 21st Century electronica! Reminds me of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Alva Noto, Christian Fennesz, Holger Czukay, David Sylvian, and, of course, Brian Eno! |

doesn’t really explore as much as before, so can’t make meaningful yearly list as I only know a few albums from each year post 2015’ish

Yes, and I actually have already reviewed it. It's good, but it sounds a bit like 2/3 continuation of Vol. I (great) and 1/3 some more stuff thrown in to arrive at album length (not quite that great), so I prefer Vol. I. Other things that really have impressed me (in the meantime I've heard enough to have a top 20 and more): Aquaserge Ske Jordsjo Craig Fortnam Needlepoint L.W by King Gizzard and the L.W (haven't heard the other one yet)

That surprised me too. The album would've been on my 2021 favourites list for sure if he had done.

apparently there is a Volume Two as well! There is almost too much to get through I've just made a list of artists that released albums in 2021 that I need to check out Motorpsycho Clive Nolan Krokofant (new band to me but will give them a go , maybe similar to Elephant 9) Isobar (their debut was great) Cyan Isildurs Bane Robert Reed Caligonaut Lee Abraham Mostly Autumn Kayo Dot also I've only listened to a few tracks off Mastodon's latest but that sounds interesting so far |

^ Great idea, Norway and the rest.
Shamblemaths Monarch Trail NichelOdeon/ InSonar All I got, in fact I've been so out of tune I need to do some catching up with my 2018-2022 albums. Ordering new music for the first time in like 5 years and I feel like a kid again. I have been aware of the albums released and opinions stated I just need to pick and choose and not buy 50 a year like the old days. Can't afford that anymore and I'm not into streaming I need to hold that recording in my hands and read the liner notes. Man I'm old.

Here's my top 4 list! The order doesn't matter cause I enjoyed each record equally as much. To tell you the truth, I didn't listen to a lot of what was coming out recently in 2021, so that may be why my list is so short.
Norwegian: 1. Shamblemaths 2. Caligonaut 3. Jordsjø 4. Needlepoint Non-Norwegian: 1. Transatlantic (extended version) 2. HFMC 3. NMB 4. Mobius Strip |

I'll check it out, I have Vixit and we generally agree on a lot musically. I can only say I must have missed it amongst the huge amount of music I listened to last year.
