I don't feel like voting for The Silent Corner And The Empty Stage over Meddle or vice versa - so no vote. The rest of these albums are mostly top notch too.

For me, Peter Hammill's best solo album just beats his band's album by a whisker.

Great albums here!
I probably consider Still Life to be the best album in this list, but it's a demanding album and so I have to be in the mood for it. Land of Grey and Pink is a stonking classic and gets regular spins from me, so gets my vote too |

First vote to VdGG, hopefully not the only one.
Followed by Camel, Hammill solo, Caravan and Pink Floyd.

Still Life just over Renaissance, Camel, and Pink Floyd. Edit: I realise there are two "Still Life" albums on this list, what a coincidence! Guess what I have voted for. The other one is not too bad either. Edited by Lewian - January 24 2022 at 05:21 |

The silent corner and Scheherazade are on the top of the mountain, hand in hand.
Supertramp and Museo Rosenbach, on the hills around, watch them with envy. Caravan and VdGG, where are thou? They are walking. And the others? We don't see them, they are very far, in the fog of the city. Edited by jamesbaldwin - January 24 2022 at 05:34 |

Very difficult to choose with so many great prog albums. But, once we need to choose, The Power And The Glory of Gentle Giant.

Camel for me, a fantastic album. I also love Caravan, Renaissance, Gentle Giant and Pink Floyd, and they are just a notch below.

I'll have to give Renaissance the nod for this one. But The Snow Goose is right on top of it.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Again: Several albums here I could easily choose and be happy with (Pink and Grey, Scheherazade, Power and the Glory), but went with Crime of the Century, a near flawless album who's stock has, sadly, fallen since I joined PA 14 years ago (used to hover around #25), thus, I wanted to show it a little love.

Honestly, none of these is a favorite of mine. Interestingly, only Meddle comes from one of the big 6 or 7 bands. The rest are second or third tier bands. Still Life is probably my favorite VDGG album and The Power and Glory is one of Gentle Giant's best, but both of these bands are more PA required listening versus bands that I have a long listening history with. Snow Goose is generally considered Camel's masterpiece, and while I recognize that it is beautiful music, it generally puts me to sleep. In the Land of Grey and Pink is also generally considered Caravan's best. Crime of the Century is a good album, and probably has the songs that I am most familiar with, although I am not familiar with the album as a whole. Many of the rest are albums that I have enjoyed listening to, but none are what I would call favorites.
