JJ just announced a fourth outing of the reboot Star Trek. Not sure how they plan on addressing the death of Anton Yelchin, but if they choose to recast...would Tom Holland be the guy?

I'm an old trekker. I really don't like the reboot. The authors seem to be newbies in Star Trek world. There are a lot of errors that a fan can't accept. Spock can't have a story with Uhura in any way, and he can't get upset without the Pom-Far. In the original serie Uhura and Kirk had the very first inter-racial kiss of the American TV (they were forced, but it doesn't matter, really).

Also, a Romulan can't destroy Volcan, and McCoy looks like Dr.Kildare.

It doesn't make it for me.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I think they should use his death in the story. Have some terrible entity attack some base or whatever where Chekhov is and have the character killed and have the rest of the movie addressing that issue.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me

The death of Anton Yelchin was a tragic loss, but I don't think his character (as used) was mission critical.  The actor can be replaced (with who I have no idea).  If they concentrate on producing a good script/story most won't even notice the change.

It looks like you missed the whole point of this version of Star Trek. The premise is it's an alternative timeline/universe (whatever you want to call it). Precipitated by the Romulan ship destroying the USS Kelvin and killing Kirk's father. Hence the moniker (Star Trek Kelvin Timeline)
