I thought Black Moon was a brilliant pop album, especially for the 90's. Glad to see someone else here loves it

Pictures is often hailed as one of the best recorded live rock performances ever so you might be in a minority on that. For me I go with Mar Y Sol over the Works Live Version but then the Nassau Coloseum and Wheeling performances from 1978 are also really sweet.

1. Karn Evil 9 - Brain Salad Surgery (counting it as one track!) 2. From The Beginning - Trilogy 3. The Barbarian - Emerson, Lake and Palmer 4. A Time and a Place - Tarkus 5. Piano Concerto - Works Volume One 6. Brain Salad Surgery - Works Volume Two 7. Burning Bridges - Black Moon 8. Learning to Fly - Emerson, Lake and Powell 9. Canario - Love Beach 10. Street War - In The Hot Seat 11. Hut of Baba Yaga/Curse of Baba Yaga - Pictures at an Exhibition 12. Desde La Vida - Three (probably the best prog track that Emerson and Palmer had been involved with since Works 1 so worth a mention)

My main problem with Tarkus is Side 2. I prefer the live version of the title track on Welcome Back My Friends... My issue with Pictures is the poor recording quality, and the fact that the band's (condensed) performances of the title track actually improved over time. My current favorite version appears on Works Live.

I definitely don't have ten ELP albums that I like, much less ten songs from ten different ELP records (though I do like the first Emerson, Lake and Powell album--does that count?) If I must:
1. ELP - "Lucky Man" 2. Tarkus - "Tarkus" 3. Trilogy - "From the Beginning" 4. Brain Salad Surgery - "Still You Turn Me On" 5. Emerson, Lake and Powell - "The Miracle" 6. Works, Vol. 1 - "Fanfare for the Common Man" 7. Works, Vol. 2 - "I Believe in Father Christmas" |

1. Brain Salad Surgery - Karn Evil 9
2. Trilogy - Abaddon's Bolero 3. Tarkus - Tarkus 4. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - The Barbarian 5. Emerson, Lake & Powell - The Score 6. Works Volume 1 - The Enemy God Dances with the Black Spirits 7. Works Volume 2 - Bullfrog 8. Black Moon - Romeo and Juliet 9. Love Beach - Canario 10. In the Hot Seat - One by One --I would prefer to choose the bonus track - Pictures at an Exhibition (Studio Version) 11. To the Power of Three - Desde la Vida *I opted to do only studio albums. However, if I had decided otherwise, I could have easily dropped the last three above for tracks from their Pictures..., Welcome Back My Friends, and In Concert (1979) live albums.

^ Personally I might go for the Babba Yaga section but then I've heard them play that section better on other live recordings such as Lyceum 1970, Mar Y Sol 1972 and some of the bootlegs on the 74 American tour. By 1972 they had dropped Blues Variation altogether (from the live version of PAAE) although with Palmer's shuffle and Emerson's trademark organ playing it was something of a signature peice in the early days.

But if you include them, then it would be Blues Variations. [/QUOTE] Nah; but P@E is a classic album that should be considered equal to the studio albums, because all new material I understand the others should be excluded because it's all studio stuff played on stage
