That's the toughest so far, I could easily vote for 5-6 albums here.
I'll vote for an underdog.

Same here: I could have voted for any one of 8, and I too went for an underdog.
Here is my league table: 1. Spock's Beard - Feel Euphoria 2. Muse - Absolution 3. Arena - Contagion 4. Pineapple Thief - Variations on a Dream 5. Dream Theater - Train of Thought I went for the Beard, for the reason that they came up with an extremely worthy effort despite having lost their chief songwriter unexpectedly. Instead I consider Neal Morse's output from "Testimony" on as regurgitations of his magnum opus "Snow". |

I like Rupi's Dance quite a lot, but De-Loused ✓ was the strongest debut by any band for some time.

There are 3 albums which stand out head and shoulders above the rest for me:
Contagion, Out of Myself and Passengers. I could happily vote for any of them, but today, Contagion gets my vote. Tomorrow it might be one of the others.

I believe this is my favourite post 70's year. It's just stacked.
Those Anekdoten, King Crimson and Opeth albums are amongst my all time favourites. |

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
