That's the toughest so far, I could easily vote for 5-6 albums here.
I'll vote for an underdog.

Same here: I could have voted for any one of 8, and I too went for an underdog.

Here is my league table:
1. Spock's Beard - Feel Euphoria
2. Muse - Absolution
3. Arena - Contagion
4. Pineapple Thief - Variations on a Dream
5. Dream Theater - Train of Thought

I went for the Beard, for the reason that they came up with an extremely worthy effort despite having lost their chief songwriter unexpectedly.
Instead I consider Neal Morse's output from "Testimony" on as regurgitations of his magnum opus "Snow".

I like Rupi's Dance quite a lot, but De-Loused was the strongest debut by any band for some time.

There are 3 albums which stand out head and shoulders above the rest for me:
Contagion, Out of Myself and Passengers.
I could happily vote for any of them, but today, Contagion gets my vote. Tomorrow it might be one of the others.

I believe this is my favourite post 70's year. It's just stacked.
Those Anekdoten, King Crimson and Opeth albums are amongst my all time favourites.

From this list, Mostly Autumn and Tull's Christmas Album.

Not on this list, Hackett's To Watch The Storms.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

Mostly Autumn
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
