These are my favorite tunes from Yes members' 70s solo works. All are what might be termed on the "radio-friendly" side of prog - think "Roundabout" or "All Good People" over epics like "Close to the Edge" and "Awaken." (I'm not sure, but they're probably the most streamed tunes on their most-liked 70s albums.) Where do you land - on Howe, Jon Anderson, Squire, Wakeman, or (non-Crimson) Bruford? Frankly, I think all of these could appear on a Yes album and be a standout - although tbf Allan Holdsworth's guitar stylings as heard on Brufords' albums are much different than Howe's.

I'll even allow multiple votes in case there's a tie for your favorites...

Bruford slays all the others. Yet, nitpicking, Bruford was not a solo effort but a band.

Wakeman gets the nod.

Vangelis & Jon Anderson - A classic song from long ago that I remember so clearly, unlike some of the instantly forgettable mindless pap played on the radio today.

I agree. Thumbs Up

Also it's not Vangelis (ft. Jon Anderson) Confused, it was called Jon & Vangelis.

Of those listed Bruford by a long shot.

I love Fish Out of Water but I voted for All's a Chord because The Steve Howe Album is really overlooked and IMO it's a fantastic release. All's a Chord is the most Yes-esque song on it.

EDIT:
Ahhhh wtf, I didn't notice that the multiple votes were allowed here and accidentally voted for All's a Chord twice. 🤣 Excuse me!

So Long Ago So Clear is from Vangelis' album Heaven and Hell. For me, that's the best Jon Anderson tune outside of Yes; never could get into Olias, and even though I'm a massive Vangelis fan, I never cared for Jon & Vangelis' albums.

I know Steve Howe's voice gets a bashing (even though it's so crucial to those celestial Yes harmonies), but I love his voice on this song, and I wish he'd banged out more tunes in this vein.

Steve's vocal part in this song is so brief, I don't mind it at all.

Wouldn't call Bruford's "radio-friendly"... so it gets my vote! Squire a close second, great album. My favorite off that one is Silently Falling, but I prefer to listen to side one all together, as intended.

The song is listed as Jon & Vangelis on some sites, my bad for doubting you, but the internet was not much help either. LOL

I could not get into Olias either, TBH nice to see i'm not the only one. Smile

Squire. I like David Gilmour's laundry videos.
