Yes, yes. Where is Peter Hammill? The most sincere singer of all times. His voice - ia world of art and emotions. He deserve to be mention. I didn't vote for anyone. Only Gabriel and Andersons are good to me. But there a plenty of singers,that much better.

But for me Peter Hammill is far more than a voice!!!!

I would like to vote both for Peter Gabriel (a world of creativity, thks for the music of the world) and Jon Anderson (the angel who makes you feel lighter, thks for your works with Vangelis).

I have pointed out that a lot of "Neo-Prog" singers mimic Peter Gabriel's voice (consciously or not), Fish first.

In fact they mimic Fish copying Gabriel.(yes, I know Marillion's fans would kill me know)

Don't agree ?

Listen the voice of Fish singing more recently with Tony Banks : closer to Phil Collins than Gabriel !

It's curious that nobody can realy mimic Jon Anderson !

Almost forgot the voice of rock - Glenn Hughes. He never played prog rock, but his singing is unique. I haven't heard a voice any stronger.

And what aboat Roger Chapman? His works with great band FAMILY are very innovative and ineresting. Especially, his works on 1970 "A song for me".

From the list, I went for Neal Morse. My favorite singer is Ian Gillan for the sheer power and range that he had and to a lesser degree, still has. I agree with Glenn Hughes as well. I lost touch with his music and only recently re-discovered him with his Songs In The Key Of Rock cd. Absolutly stunning pipes on the guy.

Songs in the key of rock is a good example. Raw power and energy all over the record.Gasoline makes listener crazy.

Even though I really like Jon Anderson's voice, I vote for Peter Gabriel because he is more versitale.

I would have to say Jon Anderson ....what a voice..superb! the man is still as amazing as was in the good old days...a voice that time cant touch ...but the difficult thing is i love Fish nearly as much yikes but i settle with jon being numero uno but then ofcourse todd rundgren aint on your list hes my godd lol

  1. Ian Anderson (love his voice, they fit the lyrics perfectly, I'll take his idea of humor over Zappa's  anyday)

Some Others:

  • Peter Gabriel (definition of emotion, without sounding like a parody like Peter Hammill)
  • Greg Lake (especially with KC, amazing)
  • Derek Shulman is great as well
  • Pye Hastings

Some I hate:

  • Peter Hammill
  • Geddy Lee
  • James LaBrie
  • Fish

Peter Hammill and no-one else. He has the most versatile voice of all and can express the full range of feelings wonderfully. Many only have the shrieking and aggressive Hammill in mind when they think of his voice, but he can be the exact opposite too. He really uses his voice as an instrument. What's more: He demonstrated what can be done with a voice and certainly was a major influence for many other singers. One may not like his style, but leaving him out in a poll for best voice because of this is simply ridiculous.

Voted Gabriel from that selection.

The list is missing some key singers: Greg Lake, Peter Hammill, Phil Collins & Justin Hayward.

Although I'm not a big Moddys fan, I think Justin Hayward has a wonderful voice.

thinking phill collins has one of the best voices or even considered on the list is beyond me...seriously uch  hes gd as a drummer but his voice irritates me
