I can't take part in this as I can't place KC's seven first in any kind of preferred order. I engage and immerse myself in whichever one of those I'm listening to, and it's always something special. -For "fun", I can place them in order of most listened to KC album - to least: In the Court of the Crimson King, Red, Lizard, Islands, In the Wake of Poseidon, Starless and Bible Black, Larks Tongue in Aspic - maybe that counts for something. I don't know. It's almost the same order as I achieved them:) -These are followed by their 1980's comeback albums - and Discipline would be my 8th. I don't connect the same way with the rest of what I've tried. And it hasn't really helped seeing later material performed live. I feel like I'm on the outside of the music, while with early KC, I'm always on the inside.

I had thought I had responded to this KC albums topic before.
Anyway, very arbitrarily... Red Lizard Islands Larks' Tongues in Aspic In the Wake of Poseidon In the Court of the Crimson King Starless and Bible Black I do adore "Epitaph" off In the Court, and the album easily could go higher. Really I value each of those albums highly in its own way. I am someone who never got that into the post 70s KC, but I probably have not given those enough time or been in the right frame of mind when I tried. There's just so much great-for-me music out there. |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

1) Red
2) Larks Tongues in the Aspic 3) Starless and Bible Black 4) In the Court of the Crimson King 5) Discipline 6) Three of a Perfect Pair 7) Thrak The first four I quite like. Red and Larks are among my favorite albums. The rest of the Crimson catalog is somewhat like Zappa. I appreciate it more than I really like it. |

1 Starless And Bible Black
2 Larks' Tongues In Aspic 3 Red 4 In The Court Of The Crimson King 5 USA 6 The Power To Believe 7 Islands I'm happy with these seven, it's the order that is difficult and maybe worthy of fresh listens, but I don't have the time right now. |

I love Toyah's new single - her best one yet - just released in June 2024.

I've been going back on Floyd and Crimson recently. I ended up loweering my ratings a bit for three Floyd albums. WYWH: 100 - 95 Animals: 97 - 93 Meddle: 95 - 93.5 Still have to go back to Piper. For King Crimson, it's a little different. Discipline: 97 - 98 Starless: 96 - 96, the same Islands: 85 - 100 Ironically, you're number 1 is still my number 1, but your avatar and number 7 became my number 2. 1. Red 2. Islands 3. Discipline 4. In the Court 5. Starless and Bible Black 6. Lizard 7. Larks' Tongues in Aspic I feel like this was the album In the Court wanted to be in a way. It was a brilliantly written album, but the immediate shift from 21st Century Schizoid Man's hard-hitting jazz to an entire album of softer more folk-oriented tracks was a little disappointing, considering the opener is the best song. This issue is fixed on the more balanced but just as beautiful Islands. Counting live albums: 1. Live in CHicago 2. Red 3. Islands 4. Absent Lovers 5. Discipline 6. USA 7. In the Court
