Has anyone noticed something odd about Steven Wilson's "Hand. Cannot. Erase." and Soft Machine's "Seven"?

Ideas are everywhere! Wilson’s sure looks a lot better to me.

Sort of like the difference between a rough draft and the final product.

Ah, there's nothing like coming back to the PA forum to read something interesting, only to stumble upon a nasty fart by an arrogant prog snob LOL

^ mission accomplished! But of course this was bound to happen, as this thread pits old versus new. I can sort of see your point except for the "intellectualism" part, don't hear that on HCE. But the upcoming SW release is all about that, so you should have a field day with it!

This statement, for some reason, reminds me of the kind of blanket word salads LLM AI bots would barf out. xD

Anyway, this "bust facing sideways" type of cover is one of the biggest clichés not only in prog but in rock in general.

Nothing new or peculiar in this thread. The Egyptians set the standard ages ago:

I'd argue there are more similarities than only people in profile. The colour palettes – purple/pink and silver/grey – bear an undeniable resemblance.

At any rate, when it finally occurred to me to put both side by side, I wondered if it is a deliberate nod to SM or just a prank pulled by uncanny chance. I prefer to think it's a homage, but a freaky coincidence would also make me chuckle.
