Long story short.
At my North of England Secondary/High school in Autumn term 1973 there was advertised free entry to come see a band filming a performance with the freebie hounds as the audience. Their record company were going to use it as promotional material for the US market ... went the blurb. This turned out to be Gravy Train (unbeknownst to me but their main man and his younger brothers were ex pupils) who I had no idea about but hey free tickets! The hall was plenty big enough and a very decent sized stage but the electrics could not cope with a band back line/pa/lights/filming equipment and so forth and kept blowing. After several false stop and starts and new fuses and whatever the only option they had was to play the album/s or tracks from the albums through the PA and 'mime'. It kinda killed the atmosphere and became...and cue parochial UK reference...very 'Top of the Pops'. We left. Has anyone ever seen this footage/has it ever been posted anywhere is basically what I am asking?? The longest of long shots.... |
