The chorus (and almost everything) on Thela Hun Ginjeet pierces my eardrums achefully, and Indiscipline doesn't really appeal to me, but I enjoy the rest of Discipline when I play it, not very often.
90125 lacks the mistery of Crimson's album, but it doesn't force me to discard any track. I don't know, it could be both or neither, according the mood. |

It was this Yes album as a teenager that first got me into prog! I feel I owe it something.

I must admit King Crimson should be considered the higher artistical achievement, yet I don't really love much from it. I like it, but not much more. Yes, Poppy as it was, and a downgrade for us prog fans, still has a few songs I really like on 90125, pop and all.

I've never been a massive fan of 90125, but I'd prefer it over Discipline, any day quite frankly...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

This poll has been going for four years and I had not responded or voted yet. I'm actually not very keen on either, nor have I given either album more than one full spin, but I preferred Discipline. Generally I prefer King Crimson to Yes, but Discipline never got to me as much as KC's earlier works. Listening to some of both again, I definitely prefer Discipline, and gave it a vote, I do like music off of it very much.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Apples and oranges. I really like both of these, but I voted for 90125 just because it resonates with me more on an emotional level. Discipline is such a great album, though, and technically very solid. It is just a little repetitive in parts. That repetition works, though, because when they do make a change, it stand out a little more ...almost like shifting gears.

Discipline era (Red, Blue, Yellow) reminds me of a mashup of Talking Heads, Zappa, and Philip Glass.

I like King Crimson better than YES
But 90125 is a better album than discipline IMO. But not better than ToaPP. Edited by Valdez - June 05 2025 at 17:45 |

Discipline. If the rather dated production of the 80s KC studio albums puts you off, bend an ear to the live album Absent Lovers.

My two most favourite prog band of whom I have all their studio albums (oh no, that's not true anymore: I gave away Heaven & Earth...). Discipline was the first KC album I heard, and I didn't like it at the time so I didn't explore more KC for a couple of years until I heard ITCOTCK on the radio and thought "wow!". But Discipline is somehow still my least preferred KC album, whereas 90125 was the first vinyl ever I bought and still has a special place in my music collection. So 90125 it is.

Discipline is my least favourite of the Red Blue Yellow trilogy, so it wouldn’t affect my vote. If I voted Discipline over 90210 (and I did), then it goes without saying I would vote for Beat and Perfect Pair, too. |

Discipline. 40-20 now. 90125 might fair better against Beat or Three of a Perfect Pair.
