Random Album Clash is back with 2003 - one of the strongest years for progressive music in the 21st century.
As usual, pick your favorite album out of the 15 you see in the list, leave a comment and give some suggestions for other great albums released that year.
I could easily vote for 5 or 6 of these, but I will kick things off with a vote for Arena, whom I gave 5 stars in a recent review, just over King Crimson (one of my favorite KC albums), The Tangent, OSI and Opeth.

I don't know any of these albums, but The Tangent are on my current A-Z playlist. Embarrassed

De-Loused by a long shot! Every song is memorable while still being complex. Energetic. I actually couldn’t stand this album the first time I heard it but after a year or so, when my taste had evolved quite a bit, I started enjoying it thoroughly. I think it’s my favourite album since the 70’s!

None of these bands or albums do it for me.

The Tangent - Andy deserves a vote for this one

There are a lot of truly great albums in this poll, but one stands out for me, and that is The Mars Volta. However, if that album were not in this poll, I have no idea what I would choose. 😳

These are the years where your taste (or even what you know) is very different from mine. I have and love a good number of stuff from these years but little that is on your lists. Which gives Anekdoten another vote... surely in these polls I pimp them a bit more than deserved, but that's how it is.

I have a ton of non-prog from 2003 but a maybe little known prog (post rock) gem is "The impossible leap in one hundred simple steps" by From Monument to Masses. I'd also vote this year's output by Robert Wyatt, Set Fire to Flames, Radiohead, Fred Frith, Mogwai,... over what is listed here.

Arena, closely followed by The Tangent.

TMV.

Missing... Dream Theater, Enchant, Frogg Cafe, and Coheed & Cambria.

EXTREMELY hard choice between The Mars Volta and Kayo Dot, but I gave it to Kayo Dot since they didn't have any votes.

^Agreed that it's missing Coheed & Cambria, their strongest album imo.
I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask me about this!)

Check out my music on my bandcamp!

KC narrowly over Anekdoten. Arena would be my third choice.

Not the style of music I normally listen to but there is something special about Sikth's album and there are some fantastic tracks on it. So the first (and probably only) vote for Sikth
