Since it's too early to know what the verdict will be for favorite prog releases of '06, I figured I'd take the "favorite release of '05" thing a bit further.

Name your favorite prog release in 2005, 1995, 1985, and 1975. It has to be something that you own!

I'll start:

2005 - The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute (This just nudged out PT's Deadwing for me)
1995 - Ozric Tentacles - Become the Other (that was VERY tough to choose between Disco Volante and this for me!)
1985 - Ozric Tentacles - Erpsongs (I actually don't have much prog from this year yet!)
1975 - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (VERY tough between that one and Zappa's One Size Fits All for Me, but Floyd just had to take it)

1975 - WYWH -Floyd

1985 - Power Windows -Rush

1995 - Voices - Vangelis

2005 - Frances The Mute -TMV

Finding any album for 1995 was difficult!

Cool. I think Power Windows came out in '86, though. That definitely would have won out over Erpsongs for me!

Anyone else?

I just realized this was easier for me to do, since I recently ripped my whole collection, and iTunes has that nifty "smart playlist" feature that automatically sorts songs for you.

Yeah, '75's hard to narrow down to just one, eh?

Relayer came out in '74. That definitely would have been on my list if it came out in 75!

Check out the review here: http://www.progreviews.com/reviews/display.php?rev=bp-paga

It's a little slick (later Paga albums - he turned the album name into a band name - are even more so) but still really good.
