Topic: Which album personify their band? Posted: January 09 2005 at 12:51 |
I was wondering how these prog bands' careers might be summed up with only one album to choose from:
Yes (I choose Fragile)
King Crimson (Red)
Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon)
Genesis (The Lamb lies down on Broadway)
ELP (Brain Salad Surgery)
Gentle Giant (In a Glass House)
Frank Zappa (Hot Rats)
If you had to pick just one album to personify each band, what would they be?

Well, if we must...
PF - Animals Moody Blues - A Question of Balance (or Threshold of a Dream) Kind Crimson - In the Court Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick Yes - Close to the Edge (or The Yes Album) Genesis - Foxtrot (or Selling England) Gentle Giant - In A Glass House VDGG - Pawn Hearts ELP - Trilogy (or BSS) Marillion - Script (Fish), Brave (Hogarth) The Church - Priest=Aura (or Forget Yourself) Zappa - way too many.
For my money, those are the albums that "personify" the bands in question.
Peace.

What defines King Crimson IMO is no longer In the court. Their sound has changed so much since then...maybe it defines prog, but in NO WAY does it define the band. I would day more likely that Discipline defines their sound than anything...
