Man, Sam, I am so pissed off right now...I've been occasionally buying up the early Deuter albums in order according to the Archives, and I excitedly discovered that my CD order of `Land of Enchantment' from 1978 was waiting in the letterbox for me on the way out tonight. Playing it in the car on the way into nightshift, I thought `Wow, the production is so polished, and those drum machines don't sound right at all...' - sure enough, inspection of the CD case states 1988, not 1978!! Obviously when it was added to the Archives there was a typo on the year of release, turns out 1988 was absolutely correct (I've since updated it myself). Very annoyed...it doesn't sound the worst album, but it's absolutely in that rather overly pretty New Age sound he eventually headed in, and I hadn't really planned on venturing that far into this albums.

^ It's one of the many albums I bought from AltrOck two years ago, at the Prog festival here. Funny how they seemed more enthusiastic about this one then their own records LOL I'm still sad to think I won't be able to watch Promenade and get more RPI records this weekend Cry

Well, at least you contributed to the Archives... now you can sell it LOL

That's right, I do remember you telling me now. Yeah, that's a disgrace what happened with that festival. Well, if it means anything, I'll be missing out and certainly won't be attending the 2 Days Prog + 1 in Italy this year...My mate did want to go, but because he's just come back from travelling, he won't have accrued enough leave from his work in time, so I'll be giving it a miss....a shame, the line-up looked amazing....maybe next year's will be even better and I can aim for that.

I won't sell that Deuter, but it will prove to be an ideal point to stop collecting from!

Sorry about that, I'm still wondering if I'll go there myself. The thing about free admission festivals is that I can't buy the ticket the force myself to go, like I usually do Tongue

I won't see Promenade this Saturday but I'll attend one of Josι Cid's Prog concerts instead. If I couldn't see him either, I'd see Esfera playing at a nearby village. Prog concerts always happen in the same day Ouch

It's a shame not more bands did personal side shows, Sam. That sometimes happens here if we're lucky.

Last nights choices:

Jefferson Airplane – Takes Off
Renaissance – Prologue
Locanda della Fate – Forse le Lucciole... (wow, actually got through the whole thing this time!)
Iron Maiden – Somewhere in Time
Spock’s Beard – Feel Euphoria
Yes – Live at the Boston Gardens 1974
Saga – Worlds Apart
Hoelderlin – New Faces

We're lucky to have one show, there's a serious lack of Prog concert promoters here Ermm Oh wait, the Prog community can't complain, DT played here last week Wacko

Awesome! It wasn't so bad, right? Big smile

Yesterday:
Gaussian Curve - Clouds
Tangerine Dream - White Eagle (Quite underrated, if you ask me.)
Yes - Fragile
Carlos Alberto Vidal - Changri-lα

Sam, they've just announced in Australia `Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress', which is described as `Performing Mike Portnoy's `12 Step Suite' and other Dream Theater classics.' I seriously doubt I'd go, as cool as it would be to see the man in action...if I can't be bothered checking out Dream Theater live, then this doesn't massively enthral me enough to race off to see it. We've also just had Anathema announced as well, but even though I'm slowly coming around to the `We're Here...' period onwards, I still can't really summon the excitement enough to go. Good chance we're getting Haken too, and technically Marillion are playing Japan in October, we're just next door, so....

But to be honest, Steve Hackett is enough to look forward to at the moment, although I don't think the new album is massively exciting. It's totally reliable and a classy effort, but there's not a trace of surprise on it, just ticks all the expected boxes. Then again, I'm not really the age demographic that will most dig it.

Oh, and for the record, I never said the Locanda album is bad, it's just that the swooning vocals and candied keyboards give it a constant syrupy quality!

Heh, `White Eagle' is one of those TD albums that I like enough, but for the life of me can never remember off the top of my head any music on it! Is `Cinnamon Road' on that one, or is that on `Hyperborea'?

Nice discussions in here as per usual and cool to see so much RPI being spun. I've been listening to a lot of old school psychedelic soul lately and then subsequently bought some contemporary offerings of the style. Must admit that I purposely avoided a lot of the new stuff for years as I basically wrote them off as some kind of bland MTV r n' b. Man was I ever mistaken!....and I'm glad that I finally had the balls to go back and check some of those releases my friends were on about at the time.

Yesterday:
Childish Gambino - Awaken, My Love!
Parliament - Mothership Connection
Gonjasufi - A Sufi And A Killer
Ochre - Beyond The Outer Loop
Henry Cow - Unrest
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular (Psych pop made for universities and hipsters)
Talaboman - The Night Land (The album that brought me back into house music)
“The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

- Douglas Adams

^^^ I was just thinking yesterday that I'd love to see Haken, they never played here. I hope you'll be able to see them Thumbs Up

Yeah, I'm even further from the age demographic, but I'd absolutely see him if I could.

That's the beauty of it, it's a very comforting album Approve

I heard Hyperborea last week and I didn't think this one was inferior. I thought the epic on White Eagle was more inspired than "Sphinx Lightning".
