Their origins are unknown, like most of the peasant traditions of Romanians. They are most likely coming from pagan (Roman or Balkanic) rituals, which are the supposed source of a lot of our traditional culture (non-religious rituals, dances, poetry, beliefs, symbols) etc.

I've seen that in the Fontainebleau forest last time I went to my ex home (I moved to Paris less than two weeks ago). It looked stunning, I've never seen anything like that and didn't know what it was. Thanks!

That's funny! Here are a few Croatian ones:

It's an old tradition - I mean, really old; probably dating back to Bronze Age.

Pictures are not as nearly as disturbing as seeing them live.Shocked

Some say they wanted to scare the bad spirits,or to capture the nature spirits for to make fruitful  forthcoming hunts and harvests. Of course, it's not true: their only reason for displaying is to scare the sh*t out of the nearby children .

I don't play the trumpet. Embarrassed

It's my dad's trumpet, though he barely knows how to play, lol. I just love taking photos to it and giving it a different atmosphere.

I have no filters for my camera yet - but that's not the colour of the flowers as I saw them - there was a distinct purple/lavender tint to them when I took the pictures, but they came out blue in the photos. I think the camera has captured the true colour flower (which are very blue not purple), not the perceived colour when seen filtered though the green light from the forest canopy. It's probably something to do with the colour-balance of the camera (I'm not as familiar with digital photography colour balancing as I am with 35mm film ... if I was using my 35mm camera I would have used Agfacolor film and a UV filter to emphasise the blue/greens).
What?

Haha, don't think it's made with the camera.

I don't have Photoshop but I have Paint.Net which does many effects that Photoshop makes. It's 'the fade away' effect, or something like that.

Maybe that's the true color... but I wonder if your digital camera have the colour intensity enhance switch on... that's something that many people don't even know that exists and most of the times it's on... I do like it a lot because it helps when you are taking pics for newspaper or printed pictures anyway... not so cool for digital publishing, like, websites...

You could take other pictures of the same flowers at a different hour of the day and see the result... that's the best way to get used to how the colour is modified by digital cameras... at the end the pics are nice though...

You can try taking the photo moving backwards while you are moving the zoom "in" to the trumpet, and it can give you the same effect... real... but of course, with a lot of trying... and having a slow speed while taking it... I'm not using the technical words, but I don't know how to say it in english... Embarrassed sorry... LOL
