Nick! Can you believe....I only heard this for the first time a day ago! I picked the CD of this up for a mere $2 at the final Record Fair in Melbourne on the weekend, and I braced myself for a drippy and bland new-age album....and instead I find it to be one of the loveliest, most melodic and endlessly enjoyable electronic albums! I completely understand why it was popular in it's day. Very impressed!
I also picked up Peter Baumann – Trans-Harmonic Nights, a late 70’s album from a member of Tangerine Dream at the time, but this was mostly syrupy pap to my ears!
Michael Hoening – Xcept One, and considering it's an 80's electronic album, I expected a very poppy and plastic sounding album, but despite the occasional dated parts, this was pretty OK.
and
Morton Subotnick – Silver Apples on the Moon - Hmmmm, an early important electronic release, which honestly sounded totally devoid of actual music to me, just bleeps and bloops for two side long pieces, like R2D2 on a bad acid trip! Maybe he was infected with a virus!

Nice to hear Oxygene was an immediate positive listen. I remember the first time I heard it a few years back and I was very much blown away by its melodic nature. My favourite parts are Oxygene pt 2,4 and 8.
As for Peter Bauman. Yeah...never really got into his solo stuff. He is a bit too commercial sounding for liking with in electronica dreamland. Lol. As for Hoening and Subotnick...I've never heard of them but the Subotnick album sounds like a real find. Lol!
Just spun another album.
Dead Can Dance--The Serpents Egg ( Host of Seraphim makes me weep like a baby. Lol. I kid)

Spot on, my good friend! An absolute classic, and simply one of the defining prog albums of the 80's!

Just got the Soft Machine "Original Album Classics" box set. Love these cheap box sets, so had to grab the SM one! So today was: Soft Machine - Third. First full listen, broken up in to half and half though. It's big... Very big! Some of Soft Machine's Six too. Probably only the first quarter.

Today is the first day of the holiday and I've already listened to:
The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown - s/t The Doors - s/t The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground And Nico Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
I just bought the Arthur Brown CD a couple of days ago but didn't have time to listen to it, and it's incredible! First full listen (although I'd heard many songs before) and I loved it! That's what made me want to listen to more psychedelic albums (the next 2 )
P.S For any Americans, it's GMT time here, I haven't heard 4 albums before 8:00am or anything
Edit: Is now:
The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown - s/t The Doors - s/t The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground And Nico Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn The Moody Blues - Days Of Future Passed

Today so far....
Charred Walls of The Damned--Charred Walls of The Damned ( excellent modern metal with a ton of power and melodic choruses sung by the great Tim 'The Ripper' Owens)
Draconian--Arcane Rain Fell ( this is an absolute masterpiece. Highly recommend this album for people who love early My Dying Bride, Opeth and Agalloch. Absolutely brilliant.)
The Eldritch Dark--Blood Ceremony ( A dance Macabre themed album. Fantastic!)
Engine--Superholic ( This was Ray Alder's first side project outside of Fates Warning. This is an album that displays more of an angry Ray Alder. Joey Vera's bass is amazing on this record and well heard!)
