It's journalism like this that says a lot about American intelligence.

Just the first paragraph alone made me facepalm.

I actually like the fact that the media didn't win. If there was not enough evidence, there was not enough evidence. Emotion has no place in this.

I literally have no idea who that is or what this is all about. People are sh*tting up my Facebook about it, though.

My god all over FB and real life people are up in arms over this Casey Anthony case.
Disgusting how the media hears something and runs with it, making it this giant show, people get swept up in it, and while not always...it is naive to think it does not influence the case.

These are private cases with people lives in the balance, (maybe literally in some cases) emotion needs to be kept out of it. Seems this time it was, but its naive to think that media explosions have not influenced cases.

It's horrifying that she may have killed a 2 year old child, or been so neglectful that it happened, but maybe more horrifying would be cases being decided on how we feel about it!
It's not just emotion getting people convicted when maybe they shouldn't be...also lives being ruined because some who have been acquitted will have their lives ruined because forever they will be thought of as guilty.
Maybe all the outside influence has caused some to view the evidence in certain cases with confused eyes, causing some to be acquitted when they should not have been!

Just hope outside influence and emotion are kept out of cases, but given the history I don't forsee this.
Rant over

regardless if she's guilty or not, as she was proven NOT to be....it seems people have reservations about executing women.

I lived in Central FL, but was vacationing in TN when this story broke.

It became one of those things where they'd interrupt any and every television program just to tell you that the prosecution spit out their chewing gum.  We quickly tuned it out.

So to me, if they found her not guilty, they found her not guilty- there we are.

Good luck Casey finding gainful employment.

Oh wait- book deals, interviews, and tell-alls...

1. People should have reservations about executing other people, period.

2. It's irrelevant. She was NOT proven not to be guilty; that doesn't work that way. What happened is that the prosecutors couldn't prove she is guilty. If there is any hint of a doubt, this is the right way a jury has to act. There is no room for emotions here. Justice worked. Justice prevailed. If she killed the daighter and is laughing now, terrible. But I'm happy the system worked where evidence and not just the media and popular opinions and emotions where the determinant factors.

I think the media sensation had a little more to do with it since a lot of this big cases get f**ked up by it, some of which are men of course...but yes it is one of the reasons I am against the death penalty. It's terribly inconsistent.
African American females are more likely to be executed than white ones remember...  Though really I don't like the idea of anyone being executed.

And sorry... but she was not, therefore it must be because she's a woman?
Could be, but that's a pretty weak argument. There's just no way to say that.

In more local news, NJ is still in a state of hell.
In these hard times, the true colors of our leaders are shining. One thing that would help greatly, reducing these high property taxes has been fought tooth an nail by the Democrats in Congress. Teachers unions are up in arms about being asked to pay into their pensions and asking for more from us.

I'm fine with unions, but this excessive decadence is too much. Cops and firemen pay into their pensions, yet they are immune? With the economy down the tubes, property tax so high, prices going up they refuse to buck and ask us to pay them more? No union leader would be willing to take a cut in pay to help I'm sure.
Not once have I heard working together or finding solutions from anyone.

ughAngry

I have not followed this case very closely. Why was this such a big story?

Children get killed in meth-addled households several times a year on the east side of the St. Louis metro. None of them are on CNN.

This case http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1024610/amanda_hamm_released_from_prison.html?cat=49 was actually in my home town. The 6 year old was in one of my mother's classes. Disapprove  The mother had been a student of my father's long ago. Don't mess with meth.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Yeah, we get similar stories from bad Philly neighborhoods all the time - but I'm sure you know what the reason is.

A few of the cases are actually Caucasoids. They're just not as photogenic as C. Anthony. Sadly, it's even more pathetic than simple racism. It's not interesting if the perps are ugly.
