Also, it seems unfair that a large majority of the people who decide what women can and can't do regarding abortion are men. That seems a little '50s-ish.
I agree 100% with your view. I think that the flip side of the problem is that many of the same people who oppose abortions are also against the use of contraceptives or at the very least making them accessible or free to those who are most likely to have unwanted pregnancies in the first place. And again, I am perfectly fine with these people having their own points of view when it comes to their lives and their families but don't push that point of view on to others who may not have that same point of view. Sadly it really seems so simple: if you don't want a kid/aren't ready to be a parent don't get pregnant. Use protection. Abstain. Keep your legs closed. In this day and age, really how difficult could it be. (Obviously pregnancy by rape is a different story). Immaculate conceptions only seem to occur once every 2000+ years of so. And it seems as though condoms or pills are over 99% effective. Granted if you truly happen to be one of the 1% (unfortunate in this context) then I guess that there might be room to feel a grain of sorrow for you.
I totally agree with that 100%, but part of the problem that I've noticed is the huge lack of sufficient sex-ed for teens. People still say condoms don't work as any kind of protection at all.
I knew a girl in high school who went to the local health department to get contraception pills and was constantly called a whore and other names by the staff. That was upsetting to hear about. I don't like how "authoritative" figures try to coerce people into not using protection at all. I guess it makes sense in a religious sense, but not so much in a practical sense.
Indeed that is very sad. Down here in BRland we don't have such problem, condoms are widely regarded as one of the top means of contraception as well as the best mean to avoid the transmission of STDs. The government provides free condoms and contraceptive pills to those who can't affort to buy them or whoever needs them in large scales (prostitutes).
Even though I failed to mention it on my previous post, I am very much aligned with you on this one, Alan, a person is supposed to do whatever he or she wants with their bodies. The only exception, in my opinion, is abortion because one is not dealing with their own body, but the body of other human being inside their own. There are countless means of contraception, there are even ones chosen and supported by the Church, who is very much against the use of condoms, pills, and other "easy" means of contraception, that can not only avoid pergnancy but also stop the women from having their bodies potentially destroyed by an abortion.
Just my two cents.

Protio: the only (or most of the) females that support abortion are femnazis.
I guess I'll be dating nazis for the rest of my life then

I would think it would be more to do with the life of their child rather than the body of the impregnated gril, but I decided to never debate the topic of abortion.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I think that should be up to the parents and whether or not they believe that life begins at conception or not, but that should be a decision to be made for and by only the individual couple and not for others across the nation who may have a differing view on the matter.
You're wise to not debate abortion because sometimes s**t gets real.
Leaving it up to individuals to decide seems like the best idea to me.

When I accidentally get a girl pregnant, I will be begging and pleading for her to have an abortion. This is going to happen before I turn 30, guaranteed.
This was avoided last time because of Plan B, pill of the gods.
