Today I've listen this CD (download from Internet with band permission by Mandrakeroot):

Limmagine%20“http://www.oniricband.org/songs/Suggestioni/Oniric%20-%20Suggestioni%20%5BFront%5D.JPG”%20non%20può%20essere%20visualizzata%20poiché%20contiene%20degli%20errori.

I think that this band will have a big future.

Also because with the help (obscure for the band) of Mandrakeroot this band arrived to the ears of Loris Furlan (Open Mind Promotions/ Lizard Records) that it seems interested to this band!!!

5%20stars My review is produced using this release: D.V. MORE RECORD MCDV 6398

Rating: 9/10

If you love Goblin, Claudio Simonetti, the O.S.T. and Symphonic Prog Metal this compilation is for you. All this ingredients are here. Because Claudio Simonetti decides to re-arrange some success played by he. And the music becomes Symphonic Prog Metal (except in "TGamma", good Jazzy POP song and in "Twin Peaks" clear Vangelis Electronic Ambient Longue music with Rock part). In this sense this compilation are extreme fresh and convincent. The sole real problem is represented from the label of this release. In fact D.V. More Recond is a small label that produces good budget compilation. And I don't know that distribution have abroad. In Italy is distributed in the departement stores. In every case we return in musical field. The songs are great in these new versions. In my opinion this compilation should have greater spread because the songs excite, ooze anger and horror. Simonetti plays like possessed by Satan and the atmospheres of the songs materialize upsets before our eyes.

Upsetting. After the listening Satan will be your sole god. Welcomes to the Universal Judgment! If succeeded gained this compilation to eyes closed. To regret for the not purchase means to cry for the despair.

Thanks, Erik. I have just stuck In The Flesh on the wishlist ... I am sure one of the progeny will make an effort for Father's Day ... because it is something I want they will actually be able to find in a record shop LOL

Thanks for the recommendation, Erik. Clap My eldest boy gave me In The Flesh for Father's Day today ... it is an awesome concert ... and a great version of STCFTHOTS, just as you said it was.

-The flute on Rhayader.
-Peter Hammill's vocals on Man-Erg and POTLK.
- Spirit Of Th Radio, the vocal part after the first chorus, yeah the one about the machinery.
- Dog Breath solo on Just Another Band From L.A.
- The last vocal part on King Crimson's The Letters.

You had some good ones there Clap The Mars Volta has one truly masterful piece of goosebumps material on every album: In Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt it's the "who brought me here?!" finale, on Frances it's the one last "No there's no light..." chorus after all the improvisational weirdness in Cassandra Geminni, and on Amputechture it's the fantastic percussion part you mentioned and the few moments after that. I've been a bit disappointed in the last couple of albums, but they always have at least one moment of total perfection.

Sigur Rós's ( ) is another good goosebumps album, especially the two final tracks. On #7 the second time they jump into the stream and just let it wash away. On #8 the build up and the finale with the exploding drumming. It was a total killer live, I often think of that moment, almost with a tear in my eye. Some best moments of my life.

Some other favorites:

The final climax of Starless, that wonderful melody coming one last time over Wetton's rough sounding bass.

The PULSE version of Comfortably Numb, Gilmour's long guitar solo from beginning to end.

A Change of Seasons, "I'm sick of all you hypocrites, holding me at bay!Angry" Very often DT's emotion leaves me cold, but this is a fantastic performance by LaBrie.

Radiohead's Paranoid Android, in the "rain down on me" part when the lonely simple keyboard line rises up to the sky from the right side like a tiny ray of hope. That's so beautiful.

Absoluuttinen Nollapiste's Suvannossa Ylpeä Ilme, final guitar solo. Suljettu is the best lyrics album ever (too bad it's in Finnish, so it won't be widely recogniced as such), and after the 20 minute closing track's tragic story comes this simple, melodic, melancholic piece of guitar art that takes my breath away every time.

Man, When I first appreciated "And You And I." Possibly the greatest song in existence. Also, an over rated thing is when I first heard "Pigs (Three Different Ones)" The verses are possibly my favorite that the Floyd has ever done. My only problem with that song and the other two biggies of animals is that it drags on far too long.

I finally managed to listen to Phoenix's Cantafabule in it's entirety. For me this is one of the best (and most elusive) albums of it's era.  Shame it is so difficult (and expensive!) to get hold of!
Other WOW moments:
Jethro Tull, "Part of The Machine"
Caravan, "For Richard"
Uriah Heep, "Salisbury"
Wishbone Ash, "Rest in Peace"
Rush, "Farewell To Kings"
Pavlov"s Dog, "Late November"
Karat, "Der Albertross" and "Auf Den Meeren".  This band started out in former East Germany and are not normally associated with Progrock but nonetheless have managed to produce some truly excellent pieces.  Check these two out!

This morning I listened the the wonderful debut CD by new and promising Italian six piece band Obscura, my goose bumps appeared during the song Limbo Cosmico (part I): a moving electric guitar solo with howling runs, accompanied by lush violin-Mellotron Approve

- Floyd's "Fletcher Memorial" and "Bring the boys back home", especially performed live.
-Floyd's "Careful with that axe, Eugene" from Ummagumma.
-Nektar's "Astronauts Nightmare" and "Burn Out My Eyes" where it says "there soon is gonna come a day" etc etc.
-Indian Summer's "Secrets Reflected" especially where he sings "time, time is the answer blah blah blah".
-Guitar and vocal melody on Swampgas' - The Waiting.E Train Blue".
-Eloy's "Return of the Voice" , "Poseidon's Creation" from the point where he sings "son of god,son of god" etc etc , "Mutiny" and the double guitar solo on "Inside".. Makes me feel pain almost every time..
-Radiohead's "Idioteque".
-Julian Jay Savarin's - Child Of The Night.

Necessary condition being that they are played LOUD.

Waiting for someone or something to show me the way...

My favorites...hmm...

The moment when Gabriel sings "Can't you see he's fooled you all?" for the first time during "Supper's Ready."

The first ascending riff in Pink Floyd's "Fearless" is another one.

Who can forget the seamless segway between "Happiest Days of our Lives" and "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2"

The moment when the acoustic guitar begins to pick up and turns into that Oh so wonderful bass line in Yes's "Roundabout".

On Pink Floyd's P*U*L*S*E album, the live version of "Run Like Hell" was an altogether goose bump experience. The laser-like guitar explosions at the beginning are awesome.

umm

Definitely the last verse of One for The Vine
the climax parts of Blood on the Rooftops
Comfortably Numb second guitar solo
Chord Progressions in Man-Erg
and finally...

"Something's changed, that's not your face, it's mine- it's mine"
