RUSH by an infinity of miles times 10.
KC is good, but they don't have half the skill and talent Rush have.

I would assume that just about every prog fan in my age group (or older), has been a Rush fan at some point. I still have a lot of respect for them, but I play thenm less as time goes by. KC is a passion that doesn't seem to fade. I find that they are even rivaling my number one group (Genesis) for attention.

This was posted as I was writing mine, an I have to say ... What? They don't have the skill and talent? Let's look at a few of the names from the roster. Rober Fripp (given), Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Peter Sinfeld, Tony Levin, Adrian Belew, etc. You really don't think that these guys match up to Lee, Lifeson, and Peart? |

<< Rober Fripp (given), Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Peter Sinfeld, Tony Levin, Adrian Belew, etc.>>
Out of this list, I feel the only one I feel could rival would be Levin and Lee. Geddy can outplay the other bassists. I think the Peart vs. Bruford thread has happened before, and I still give the edge to Peart. Much like what I said on that earlier thread, you pit both drummers side by side on a stage, and I would bet a months paycheck that the majority of eyeballs would be on Peart. E |

Quite a pointless poll, they have nothing in common!
I adore KC, while from what I heard of Rush, only several songs, I can't say I found anything interesting...
So I dont vote.

As cool as Rush is, they've never done anything that has just out and...excited me about music, songwriting, creativity... the way KC 69-75 has in such a huge way.
On those 7 albums, the ideas, the moods, everything, just FLOWS. It's like the Big Bang. I choose KC, forever and ever. |

Even in his lowest points of creativity, KING CRIMSON are so much better than RUSH...

Last month, I would've answered Rush. Since then, however, I would answer KC.

Rush, without a doubt.
I respect KC more than I actually like their music. If that makes sense.. |

I actually think it's been the better Band vs. Band poll we've had. It's like the Ali/Frazier of Prog Archives. If you don't like it, don't participate. It's as simple as 2nd grade math. E |

If you would have asked me this 15 or 20 years ago I would have said Rush. Ive never really considered them a "prog" band per se either, although I guess thats beside the point. Over the years my taste has become more refined. At one time they were my favorite band but in hindsight and considering all the crap Rush has put out in the last 20 years I'd definatly say KC is the superior musical force.

King Crimson at any time of the past, present, or the future. They are the musical embiodiment of the Once and Future King.
