I honestly don't know why people get so bent over this issue.
Horrors! A band you don't think is prog enough gets added to the site. I guess the whole thing is useless now.
That makes no sense to me. There is still a huge number of completely progressive artists to explore here. I will probably never hear them all. Amazingly enough, while Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and Rainbow were being added, I managed to discover Deluge Grander, Magrathea, and Mahavishnu Orchestra. It must have been a fluke.

Toolis -
For God's sake man get a grip on reality, get over yourself, and issue an apology.

i don't want to be considered as some kind of rebel here but what about all these threads and fights over the inclusion of IM and Zeps and Deep Purple and all these "prog related" bands? i'm not expecting any "allies" to show up but don't tell me that i'm only "one"... so, what's the problem? is it because i'm straightforward? i thought that would be appreciated instead!!!!
and as far as the specific reviews i commented on, i just used them as an example... since the inclusion is made for these bands under the prog related genre, i expect from anybody but moreover from an admin who was in favour of these inclusions to be objective... all these reviews can only imply one thing, the same MikeEn Regalia mentioned: whoever struggled for these bands to be in here, used as a subterfuge the "Prog Realated" label so that he/she could later laud them as prog bands... i'm sorry but this is a zealous fan's behaviour not someone's that has a responsible post in here...
that's all folks... what's so aggravating about this?

It's always aggravating when someone presents specualtion as fact.

What makes you think you can make an unsubstantiated allegation like that? The average age of the Admin Team is 45. We are not children and we do not take decisions likely. Do not mix up your complete lack of understanding with the truth.
The owner of this site is Max. Max wants prog-related and proto-prog bands added so that non-Prog fans will be drawn to the site and hopefully get into Prog.He was the guy along with Proglucky who started this whole bohemoth of a site off. We as Admin have to follow his "vision" for the site. Part of this vision is inclusivety and the value of Prog-Related additions as a bait to draw the uninitiated to the site.
Let's use Iron Maiden for example.
Iron Maiden arent considered Prog. They have been added here as Prog-related which is a non-prog genre.
The idea is that because Iron Maiden uses themes and ideas that are common in Prog Rock (though obviously not in execution) this might be a stepping-stone for some of their fans to get into real Prog. Get them to the site and educate them.
Having to explain this over and over becomes boring.
Toolis, you present yourself a musical snob. We want new people to get into Prog, in fact we are desperate to spread the word. We need to find some common ground between Prog and Rock and the way to do this is by including bands that we call "stepping-stone" bands, some of whose fans get off on the more complicated, differently arranged and probably instrumental aspects of those bands repertoire. If you cant see how fans of Led Zep IV, Rainbow Rising or Maiden's Seventh Son Of A seventh Son (or whatever its called) might find some common ground with Rush,Genesis or Yes and their ilk and from that to even more esoteric Prog then you need to stay silent because you simply have no idea.
WE arent playing at this.

It's not just you. I sometimes get on the wrong side of people for doing something in a wrong way. It is really annoying when someone asks you to apologise for something you feel you haven't done. But it is still necessary to apologise because someone took it the wrong way. That way the relationship (if any..) between two people can be reformed and a grudge is not held.
