This list is mostly, in no particular order and I give my
supporting rationale.
Feddy Mercury - because he's untouchible. He's amazing! He is the
best.
His work is un-coverable.
Roger Daltrey - nobody wails like Roger. He is the quintessenial
rock
vocalist.
Ian Anderson - witty, unabashed, unique and totally nuts.
Roger Hodgson/Rick Davies - The unconventional sounding duo
behind
Supertramp. Their must wouldn't stand out anywhere near as much if they
were normal. Roger soft spoken spacey and sometimes forceful and Rick so
full of lament and great story teller.
Chris Cornell - powerful, vercitile, good soft or loud and wicked
live.
Serge Fiori - I own one Harmonium album (another on the way), but
it's
enough to know that he's so into it's breath taking.
Jack White - I don't think you have to be normal to be good.
Infact it's
usually a set back. Look at Roger Plant, Geddy Lee and David Bowie.
Jack White's piercing vocals as much as his skull crushing guitar riffs
are the reason I fancy myself a White Stripes fan.
James Brown - No list of great vocalists should be allowed to
exist
without the grand master of funk. Incidentally, none of your lists should be allowed to exst.
Greg Lake - Excellent all around singer and smoother than a high performance sports car.
Paul McCartney - I hated John, but Paul! Jet, Live and Let Die, Hey Jude, Maybe I'm amazed. His talent is obvious.
Honourable mentions: Burton Cummings, Geddy Lee, Roger Plant, David Bowie, Meat Loaf, Mick Jagger, Axl Rose, Joe Cocker, Bob Seger, John Kay, Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson, Tom Waits, BB King, Van Morrison, Tom Cochrane, Roy Orbison, The Righteous Brothers, Steve Miller, Elton John, Those Artsy Pink Floyders and the four headed beast that is Sloan.

Haven't thought about this before....It's interesting to focus on the singers. I came up with these ten:
Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh) (post-punk, indie, singer-songwriter) Michael Sadler (Saga) Christian Vander (Magma) Valérie Barki (Limborg) (ambient electronic world avant-garde chill) Iva Bittová (Ivá Bittova and various collaborations) (folk, avant-garde, classical) Jean Smith (Mecca Normal, 2 Foot Flame) (art-post-punk, experimental) Sandra Ann Lauer (Sandra) (pop : ) ) Paula Frazer (Paula Frazer, Tarnation) (singer-songwriter, alt-country, americana, folk, shoegazer) Julee Cruise (Julee Cruise) (shoegazer) Louise Rutkowski (This Mortal Coil, The Hope Blister) (shoegazer)
