That album is absolutely smoking! And to think that these guys worked as a cruise ship band previously to making this wonderful weird combination of fusion and RPI. I can just imagine playing this to an unsuspecting crowd on a big white boat

 Listening to the live recording from the mid-1970s and I'm already hooked. KC's live recordings can sound a bit dry and overtly formal, this is a great deal more lively and the harder-edged songs downright savage.

This one's even more timeless:  Also got my hand on a bunch of live recordings from this era, but I haven't gotten around to hearing them yet. Heard you've only caught a glimpse of what this line-up could accomplish is you've just heard the studio recordings.

^Very few indeed. I struggle to think of any new band with the same kind of adventurous chops though. Maybe the band responsible for Kamasi Washington's recent The Epic, but then we're in the jazz world.
