It's definitely my kind of stuff, deeply thoughtful and the flow is just marvelous.

But does it work as well in English as in French?

I'm always curious about that.

^ yes, I was just about to ask that.

Of course, he'd need to be able to read French in order to answer. :P

It flows pretty well in English but maybe that was just a clever translator. Tongue

I wish I could read French but I can only do Spanish and English. Ouch

Finished Radio Free Albemuth...two days ago?  Another good one from PKD, lots of his common themes explored again.  The second night I was reading it, I dozed off for a while, and had a semi-dream about communicating with VALIS. LOL

I'm halfway through one.  I've just not picked it up in weeks.

Is that a Neverwinter Nights quote?

thing I like about a lot of the books I bought recently - Gateway, Neuromancer, The Forever War, and others - is that despite the author reimagining every detail about earth, creating alternate histories and explaining new technology without showing you the blueprints, you still have a flawed and only-sometimes competent human as the main character.

"The Stars My Destination" was really hard to believe in... the transformation of this shipyard drudge into a pure anti-hero who does as he wishes is tough to take seriously at times

yes I bought a bunch of ze SF Masterworks series x3

If I had lots of money, I'd buy all of the SF and Fantasy Masterworks series in paperback.  That means the original series and the current one as well (they're not numbered any more, boo).

If you like modern literature, and are not afraid of some cyber punk influences, try Neal Stephenson's Reamde.
