If you like that English sound, you might like Delius and Bax too.
OKAY, I'M OVER THIS NOW. So much recommending.

Ok, I'm just gonna go ahead and listen to Björk's Biophilia without backing it up with any past albums (most of which I'd be hearing for the first time as well). To hell with context.

This is starting pretty well. But if Bj ends up in my top of the year because of not much anything else I really enjoyed, I will kill myself.

OK, so the list so far: Birtwistle Boulez Xenakis (Krannerg, and was that a recommendation or a warning about the Quartets, Rico?) Mahler - Symphony #7 (conducted by Boulez w/ the Cleveland Orchestra) Varese - Ameriques Messiaen (listening to Quartet for the End of Time atm, sounds enjoyable) Penderecki Bartok Huybrechts Webern Delius Bax
Did I miss any?

Check out some lesser known names too, like Steve Martland, Peter Maxwell Davies, Alexander Goehr, Elgar Howard and maybe even Toru Takemitsu.

If you're going to listen to any more Messiaen, you should check out the Turangalila Symphonie. It features and ondes-martenot which sounds really cool.

That was definitely a recommendation. Red flag anything else by him.

And Oiseaux works. I wouldn't really go for the organ / vocal-symphonic just yet.

Start here, then onto: Steve Martland, Peter Maxwell Davies, Alexander Goehr, Elgar Howard and maybe even Toru Takemitsu. OK, that should last for a little while.
