it is to my understanding that marian hossa likes to engage in oral fornication of a homosexual nature and that alex ovechkin's inability to do anything but shoot and takes runs at fellow competitors is a result of his feeble mental state
^ now that is smack talk

Whew!!!! The Wings beat the Mother Duckers 4 to 3 last night to win the series 4 to 3 and move on to face the Chicago Black Hawks in the Western Conference finals. Way too close for comfort, but I am definitely elated that they are moving on.
The Pittsburgh/Washington series was one for the ages. I have a feeling that with Crosby and Ovechkin this won't be the last time these two teams meet in the playoffs.
I'm sorry to see Carolina beat the Boston Bruins. I was really hoping that the Wings would get a chance to play the Bruins in the finals for an Original Six matchup. Bruins goalie Tim Thomas played here in the minors for the Detroit Vipers back when he was just a young pup. He was a horrible goalie, and it is absolutely amazing to hear talk about him being one of the best goalies in the NHL. After he crashed and burned with the Vipers, he moved to Switzerland, where he completely reinvented his goaltending style and became the great goalie that he now is. It would have been fun playing against him and the Bruins.
On to the Blackhawks, and another Original Six meeting. Glad to be playing a team in our general time zone. The 10:00 PM starts against the Anaheim Mother Duckers really sucked and I am glad that we don't have to endure those against the Vancouver Canucks too.

Let's go Pens
Let's go Pens
hopefully be meeting the Blackhawks in the finals this year and hopefully Hossa falls down a flight of stairs sometime soon (now he's about the only one I'd wish this on, eh, maybe Ovechkin but only because he attempts to injure other players)

What a dominant performance by the Red Wings in game 4, 6-1. Made the Blackhawks completely lose their compsure.

Much happiness in the D today after that victory. Even better that it was done without Datsyuk and Lidstrom, the Wings' top scorer and defenseman, respectively.

Indeed. Looked like a scrimmage against a college team for the last period and a half.

Given the age difference between the two teams more like a father and son game, except that the fathers usually lose to the sons.

Yeah Wings. Up 2 games to none over the Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals. Some lucky bounces have gone the Wings way or else it might be 2 to none the other way around.
I'm a little disappointed with the league giving Malkin superstar status and waiving his automatic suspension for instigating a fight in the final 5 minutes of a game. It would have been one thing if it were just a fight, but he took 2 or 3 swings at Zetterberg with his stick before they dropped their gloves and started fighting. Oh well, hopefully it doesn't make a difference. GO WINGS!!!!!

They are certainly looking good without Draper and Datsyuk

Egads and Gadzooks, the Penguins sure stuck it to the Wings last night in the 2nd period. I don't think the Wings know what hit them. That may have been their worst period of hockey in these playoffs. Oh well, we now have a 3 game winner take all series for the Cup.

I was thinking about you yesterday night, Scott... Micky was rooting for the Penguins, while I was hoping the Red Wings would win for your sake . Then I went to bed, because I was feeling tired and not too hot, and later he told me the Pens had won.

It was quite a brutal game. It didn't help that I was at the Tigers' game yesterday afternoon and they lost their 3rd consecutive game to Boston. I was kind of in a foul mood prior to the game, and one might say that my mood became even fowler after losing to the Penguins.

I just came into possession of 2 tickets to tomorrow night's game 5. Here's hoping that this game more closely resembles Games 1 and 2, than it does Games 3 and 4.

The Red Wings 5 - 0 Game 5 victory over the Penguins was absolutely awesome to see. The building was electric. Tonight is game 6 in Pittsburgh. I expect that it is going to be a much more difficult game tonight, but hopefully, tonight the Red Wings will be taking Lord Stanley's Cup home with them. As enjoyable as Game 7s are, I don't need the additional stress that a game 7 would cause.

Scott, I'll be rooting for the Red Wings, though I'm afraid Micky will be rooting for the Pens instead !

Shoot, see this is what I get for not paying attention to anything below the first five music threads...a whole season of Hockey information and no comments.
You know Rushfan, your icon riles me a little bit every time I see it ;)
Go Pens.
With that being said, I'd like to share how I see the handshake going after the Penguins win Friday night:
Crosby: Good series, idiot Hossa: Hey Talbot: Good series, idiod Hossa (a little more indignant): Heeey! Malkin (in his thick Russian accent): eeh dee ot Hossa: Aw Come on Guerin: Idiot. Hossa: Heey, you weren't even there last year. Crosby (who has apparently skated back to go through the line again): Idiot.
*grin* Go Penguins

Hopefully, I will be able to retain my avatar after Friday night's game. I really, really, really did not want to see this series go to a Game 7. Now that it is here I am sure that it is going to be an awesome game for the ages. Hopefully, like with the other 6 games, in favor of the home team.
