How do I get my GF into prog???
You don't (especially if she likes Jazz & classics)
If you want your partner to like prog, you stand a better chance to go convert gay and forcefeed him DT, PT or TFK
let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

You have to get her into prog...progressively
More seriously, my GF doesn't like prog but enjoys the most melodic PF, Sweeet smoke/Just a poke, some Quintessence (most melodic moments), a little Popol vuh...that's all i can think about at the moment.

Aw, judging from the title of the thread I came here to advise you how to get you Grand Father into Prog! Oh well...
How to get you Girl Friend into prog eh? Thats harder...
Well my wife liked Camel's Snow Goose but if you want your girl friend in to prog get her into the quieter female lead stuff such as Mostly Autumn or Panic Room...... or Nightwish. actually that's not so quiet....
well get her into Phil Collins Genesis and then slowly pull away the supports till she gets interested in the Gabriel era and then when she hears "Foxtrot" her ears will love her forever.
DO NOT PLAY THE FOLLOWING:
Kayo Dot
Robert Wyatt
Peter Hammill
Can
Faust
Magma
or she may leave you forever...

Geez. Is it possible for the subject of women to come up on this forum without several members immediately guffing out a load of patronising gender stereotype nonsense? Women are just as capable of digging any kind of music as men are.
Also, to the OP I'd echo what others have said - she already likes jazz and classical so the chances are she's already spent some time developing her tastes. If she hangs around with you long enough then she might acquire a taste for prog, if not it's no biggie. Don't try and "convert" her. That never ends well.

Zappa is terrible as well for women
Not quite true, I had a gf and the only prog she really liked was FZ and Jim Morrison ... .She pretended to like Banco and stuff but I knew it was just because of me.It's a horrible thing to convince anyone(not just girls) about music. It's not about "logic".
But the only advice I can tell you is to play your favorite albums for her at times when she's really immersed in your love.It makes her love the music too! (only at those times tho )

Ah, PROG! I first misread it and thought you asked for sick advices...
Anyway, you don't need to. Just keep listening to your music. If she asks what you're listening, just tell her and raise the volume if she wants to hear a bit more.
BUT YOU MUST GET HER INTO R.I.O.! IT'S A SACRED OBLIGATION! DO YOU HEAR ME??? YOU MUST DO IT!!!
