Well, my fave Prog Metal bands have more or less always been Threshold and Vanden Plas, because they are intensely melodic, interplay light and shade and use virtuosic technicality very sparingly. Yes, Threshold are a Prog Metal band, but in my mind, they are actually Heavy UK-style Neo-Prog, because their song structures seem to come from that school... Vanden Plas? They have the most talented, original and stable group of musicians imaginable... with Andy Kuntz as front man. 'Nuff said in my view..
