^ Thanks Lorenzo.
Yes, and I edited it quite badly. I had since decided on Elizabeth Fraser and din't want others to feel compelled to present feedback, which I might just ignore anyway, although I do appreciate it. While I felt there was some variety in the songs I chose, I am more interested in showcasing the kinds of music that most speak to me and exhibit my tastes than in showcasing, say, the versatility of the artist (unless that is the challenge given explicitly). The music I share reflects on me, and I do like to highlight music that I deeply care about no matter how representative or diverse. Most of all, I got to do it "my way". ;) Sensible things to consider that you bring up, though. Also I actually don't want to be as influenced by what I think others will like as by what I like as I'm not trying for "votes", which is a reason why I removed the having difficulty deciding comment. I do very much enjoy reading people's thoughts on the music that I and others suggest. I will go with another selection, partially to highlight other Fraser music I care about. Yann Tiersen with Elizabeth Fraser - Kala I was tempted to go with Fraser's cover of Chic's "At Last I am Free" but Wyatt covered that best. Two of my favourites of hers that are not Cocteau Twins are longer songs (about nine minutes each) and had I not requested shorter tracks than I would have liked to include This Mortal Coil's Sixteen Days/ Gathering Dust and The Future Sound of London's Lifeform (Path 4). I do think that Massive Attack's Teardrop is just too famous a song and I have mentioned it before. Massive Attack's "Black Milk" with Fraser is also well-known, and also is very much liked by me. Here is The Future Sound of London's Lifeform (Part 4) with Elizabeth Fraser on vocals. It is a couple of minutes longer than I had wanted at max for a song in this poll, but I like it so much, and so I think I will put it in the bonus section. I don't wish to do Elizabeth Fraser without Cocteau Twins, and I will go with "In the Gold Dust Rush" (off head Over Heels). My three choices will be: 1. Yann Tiersen with Elizabeth Fraser - Kala 2. Cocteau Twins with Elizabeth Fraser - In the Gold Dust Rush Bonus: The Future Sound of London with Elizabeth Fraser - Lifeform (Part 4) Edited for typos. Edited by Logan - May 09 2023 at 20:02 |

I plan to have the poll up by tomorrow -- would happily do it tonight, but I like to run the list by people in case of mistakes and to verify people's choices before putting them up.
Lewian: Rainbirds (Katharina Franck) - Waltz for Jane FM Einheit w/ Katharina Franck - Educacao Bonus: Katharina Franck - Wind Was Playing With My Hair Suitkees Stuart Staples - Willow (from the soundtrack of High Life, 2018) Micatone - Handbrake (featuring Stuart Staples) Tindersticks - Frozen omphaloskepsis: First Class - Beach Baby (Tony Barrows) Edison Lighthouse - "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes" (Tony Barrows) The Flower Pot Men - "Let's Go To San Francisco" (Tony Barrows) or Free - Fire and Water (Paul Rogers) Bad Company - Silver, Blue And Gold (Paul Rogers) The Firm - Midnight Moonlight (Pual Rogers) Queen + Paul Rodgers Reaching Out mathman0806: Goran Bregović and Iggy Pop - In the Death Car Catherine Graindorge and Iggy Pop - The Dictator Bonus: Ryuichi Sakamoto and Iggy Pop - Risky or Heron Oblivion with Meg Baird - Oriar Espers with Meg Baird - Flaming Telepaths Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore - Damaged Sunset jamesbaldwin: Treat Her Right (Mark Sandman) - I Think She Likes Me Morphine (Mark Sandman) - Free Love I prophecy disaster: Notopia - Celebrating Life - Connect (feat. Peter Hammill) Saro Cosentino - The Road To Now - The Joke (feat. Peter Hammill) Bonus: Isildurs Bane & Peter Hammill - In Amazonia - Before You Know It Mila-13: 1. Richard Bona ft. Salif Keïta: Kalabancoro 2. Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez: Raíces/Roots Bonus: Toto Bona Lokua: Ma Mama Cristi Steve Hogarth with How we Live - All the Time in the World Steve Hogarth & Richard Barbieri - Red Kite Bonus: Europeans - "Going to Work (Long Version)" (feat. Steve Hogarth) Logan: 1. Yann Tiersen with Elizabeth Fraser - Kala 2. Cocteau Twins with Elizabeth Fraser - In the Gold Dust Rush Bonus: The Future Sound of London with Elizabeth Fraser - Lifeforms (Part 4) So that's 9 of us, and Andy has not had the chance to choose. We have 26 tracks (Lorenzo only did two). No problem, I'll do my bonus track as a write-in vote (we all are supposed two write our choices in a post anyway) and leave it off the poll itself while still having that track participating in the choices. I'm guessing that George is going with Iggy Pop over Meg Baird if I'm reading into things right? Love both choices. Not sure which one Cindy (Ompha) is choosing, but if none is decided by tomorrow then I will go with the first trio. and with Cristi unless specified otherwise, I will go with your first three H choices. And if not specified as bonus generally, then I will place the third listed track as bonus (as I think would be expected). Edited for Cristi and Mila choice edits. ^ ok, I choose How We Live and Hogarth & Barbieri. If there's still a spot, you can throw in The Europeans.
Is that ok?

^ Thanks, maybe your Hogarth with Europeans pick can share a bonus spot with my Fraser with The Future Sound of London pick as an "or" option in the bonus section since we are at 26 songs. Somehow I like the thought of London and Europeans sharing a line, especially after the UK left the EU.

Greg, I think you are right. The main project should be part of the main category. Therefore I have decided to classify my songs accordingly. :) 1. Richard Bona ft. Salif Keïta: Kalabancoro 2. Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez: Raíces/Roots Bonus: Toto Bona Lokua: Ma Mama

Hey Greg, no lines to be read on this. I am equally torn between selecting Iggy or Meg. I am leaning toward Meg because: (1) she is lesser known and deserves to be heard more, (2) I have previously nominated Iggy as a member of the Stooges with the song "1969" for the 60's poll, and (3) Meg would add another female vocalist as the majority is male.
I might think about it some more but if you don't hear from me again before you put up the poll, go with Meg as my nominee. Plus I have been enjoying the Heron Oblivion album this past week. If I am ranking my own suggestions at this moment: 1) Oriar 2) The Dictator 3) Flaming Telepaths 4) In the Death Car 5) Damaged Sunset 6) Risky |

It shouldn't say The Europeans featuring Steve Hogarth, after all Steve sang and played keyboards in that band, but i guess it's a way to get some attention. I saw a release of a Genesis live show broadcast that was released on CD that said Genesis featuring Phil Collins. The cringe was big with this one. 🙁

^ Thanks George, I really liked the Meg Baird music you posted. Plan to put it up tonight.
And to note again, I plan to go with Cindy's first three unless specified otherwise.
I hadn't planned to present it the same way as in the video title, but I do want to specify the singer in all of the poll options, say as The Europeans - Going to Work (Steve Hogarth). Maybe that Genesis live show broadcast CD would have worked well with a "featuring Phil Collins" had Collin's Genesis played the debut or the second album... As in From Genesis to Revelation and Trespass now featuring Miami vice alumnus, the Artful Dodger himself, Phil "Su-Sussudio " Collins on vocals and drums. ![]() From The Book of Genesis In the beginning Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Chris Stewart, Anthony Phillips and Mike Rutherford created Genesis. And the Genesis was without Phil; Stewart, Silver, then Mayhew, was upon the fills of the band And the archangel Gabriel was the voice of the land. Then Genesis Gods said, Let there be Phil, and there was Collins. And They saw that it was Good (while some others complained). ![]() Edited by Logan - May 10 2023 at 06:54 |

Nah, it was a radio broadcast from their 1978 tour if I remember right. Ridiculous to call the band like that. Even incompetent I dare say.

^^ Incompetent probably, much like me typing prophecy rather than prophesy before. That said, I prefer propheticise as in I turned a tidey prophet when I propheticised on that hoarse winning. ;)
I have heard one person say that Genesis stopped truly being Genesis when Gabriel left, and I've heard that about Hackett despite him not even being around on the earliest albums. For some Genesis truly starts at Nursery Cryme, and for some others with Genesis' self-titled, which doesn't mean much. |

I can add the Frumpy and Atlantis tracks to the poll -- hope you participate in the listening and voting process. It will mean adding more bonus combos since that brings us to 28, but I think that's fine. I had wished to try to avoid Prog (but hadn't banned it outright), and maybe do a Prog edition at some time, but that's fine and neither track is very long, so good to have you on board, Jean. I've been concerned about you and Jean and it's very good to see you around again, so actually I am pleased to add your selections no matter what.

we were working on our latest musical project, the 6-women band Dark Goddesses, in which we all represent a Greek Goddess. Friede represents Περσεφόνη
(Persephóne, the Goddess of the Underworld), our daughters Alice and Dorothy and my sister Beatrice represent the 3 Erinyes (Goddesses that punish Crimes; Alice represents Ἀληκτώ
(Alectó, the Punisher of Moral Crimes), Dorothy represents Τισιφόνη
(Tisiphóne, the Punisher of Murder) and Beatrice represents Μέγαιρα
(Mégaera, the Punisher of Marital Infidelity), Charlotte, the wife of Beatrice, represents Ἔρις (Éris, the Goddess of Strife,
Discord and Chaos) and I represent Ἑκάτη
(Hecáte, the Goddess of Witchcraft). we will have a great stage show with all Goddesses flying in one by one, only the Erinyes flying in as a trio, and equally taking off when the show is over. and we will all look very fearsome (for example, all 6 Goddesses have occasionally been depicted as having snakes as hair, so we will all wear special snake wigs with artificial snakes that really move, designed by a friend of us who is a mechatronics wizard; each wig consists of 30 snakes that really move)

Greg, what about publishing exceptionally the entire list of bonus tracks in the OP? The space in the poll slots is quite limited and it will be difficult to put the artist names and song titles of two entries next to each other.- You could inform people about the voting procedure by using the remaining space in the poll table e.g.

^ I hope you film your stage show. I'd love to see and listen to it.
-------------------- This poll will be going up very shortly. I have separated this into two sections, the first being the main one with two selections from everybody and the bonus with one more selection from most people. As we are at 28 entries, and a poll maxes out at 25 options, I have decided to combine 8 bonus entries into 4 poll lines, which leaves an extra space for an Intermission between the main entries and the bonuses. Main: Lewian: Rainbirds - Waltz for Jane (Katharina Franck) FM Einheit w/ Katharina Franck - Educacao Suitkees High Life Soundtrack - Willow (Stuart Staples) Micatone - Handbrake (featuring Stuart Staples) I prophesy disaster: Notopia - Connect (feat. Peter Hammill) Saro Cosentino - The Joke (feat. Peter Hammill) Mila-13: Richard Bona ft. Salif Keïta - Kalabancoro Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez - Raíces/Roots mathman0806: Heron Oblivion - Oriar (Meg Baird) Espers - Flaming Telepaths (Meg Baird) jamesbaldwin: Treat Her Right - I Think She Likes Me (Mark Sandman) Morphine - Free Love (Mark Sandman) omphaloskepsis: Free - Fire and Water (Paul Rogers) Bad Company - Silver, Blue And Gold (Paul Rogers) Cristi How we Live - All the Time in the World (Steve Hogarth) Steve Hogarth & Richard Barbieri - Red Kite Logan: Yann Tiersen with Elizabeth Fraser - Kala Cocteau Twins - In the Gold Dust Rush (Elizabeth Fraser) Baldjean: Frumpy - Take Care of Illusion (Inga Rumpf) Atlantis - It's Getting Better (Inga Rump) INTERMISSION (not intended for votes) Bonus: Lewian: Katharina Franck - Wind Was Playing With My Hair Suitkees: Tindersticks - Frozen (Stuart Staples) Ipd: Isildurs Bane & Peter Hammill - Before You Know It Mila: Toto Bona Lokua - Ma Mama Mathman: Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore: Damaged Sunset Ompha: The Firm - Midnight Moonlight (Paul Rogers) Cristi: Europeans - Going to Work (Steve Hogarth) Logan: The Future Sound of London w/ Elizabeth Fraser - Lifeforms Pt. 4 Making those two songs each, I have: Katharina Franck - Wind Was Playing With My Hair OR Tindersticks - Frozen (Stuart Staples) Isildurs Bane & Peter Hammill - Before You Know It OR Toto Bona Lokua - Ma Mama Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore - Damaged Sunset OR The Firm - Midnight Moonlight (Paul Rogers) Europeans - Going to Work (Hogarth) OR The Future Sound of London w/ Fraser - Lifeforms Pt. 4 Note: While I said that I would go with Cindy's first three mentions unless told otherwise, I took it on myself to include the second three of here four choices from Paul Rogers. I found The Firm's "Midnight Moonlight" too good not to include. I ask that people vote for three songs with three different singers in the main poll, and please vote for two songs in the bonus poll (if you did not include a bonus option, then voting here is optional or should it be more optional?). Please specify which songs you voted for in a post. Here is the nominees playlist, which I also will add to the opening post. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXcp9fYc6K4KUB6zJuKcbVOniE_dMyB6s With 29 videos, well if I include the fun little Intermission which does not count for voting, I expect people to take their time. |

It's this one, which doesn't work for me:
While that doesn't work for me and I can't see it in the playlist (hidden), I was able to add it to the playlist methinks at the end of it. I wish I could easily rearrange it as I did once before to have it next to the other vid. I think I add mnage to arrange it properly in the playlist. Does it show up in the playlist for you now (and the other should be hidden for you)? Edited by Logan - May 11 2023 at 01:20 |
