You hit my top two trios right on the button.

Others:
Jimi Hendrix Experience & Band Of Gypsies
Primus
Thin Lizzy
The Police

I am also a big fan of the "power trio plus a singer", i.e. The Who, Zeppelin, etc.

Coroner is a great band... Probably, the best tech-death band along with Atheist. Grin rules...

Lots of good nominations so far - I'll add:

Art Bears (their 2nd and 3rd albums had no additional musicians)
Massacre
Daimonji
This Heat
Brainville

Prog related

Acid Mothers Temple SWR
The Necks
EST (Eisbjorn Svensson Trio)

Non prog

Motorhead (surprised nobody else has mentioned them; the Lemmy/Philthy Animal Taylor/Fast Eddie Clarke line up is an all time classic power trio)
Husker Du
Morphine

In 1983's The Final Cut, Rick Wright Wasn't on that album. Even though they had several guest musicians, I would consider it a trio (waters, gilmour, mason)

That reads like libellous BS to me mate.I have heard this scurrilous piece of rumour before and it is totally unfounded rubbish probably based on someone seeing a guitar tech tuning one of Lifeson's guitars.
