It's very original. I've heard some people call them Porcupine Tree-ripoffs, but I frankly don't see any comparison. In my humble opinion, they're much more creative than Wilson. By the way, the US release has one of their two best songs on it ("Arrival / The Intention Craft"). The UK release has the other one ("The Twyncyn / Trembling Willows"). The other differences are relatively inconsequential. I'd suggest buying the US release, but if you get REALLY into the band like I did, you may want to go ahead and get the other one too. Just a suggestion. |

By the way, when we say as one of the great debut albums Marillion's "Script", maybe we should better say "Market Square Heroes / Grendel" (which qualifies as a great debut as well).

I agree, the Court is the most likely the best. I also like Starcastle' s debut, PFM's Storia di un minuto, Steve Hackett's Voyage of the Acolyte (even though he played for genesis, but started his solo career with this one), and Anthony Phillip's The geese and the Ghost. |

From prog related Queen's debut is pretty stunning, but far from the best possible.

For me it's definitely The Light by Spock's Beard.
Also good: Milliontown by Frost*, In The Court of the Crimson King, Gentle Giant's self titled This year I've been enjoying the new debut album by Mars Hollow. There are many others, but these came to my mind first. |

Nice exhaustive list in general, but for the sake of nitpicking, the ones I've highlighted aren't debuts. Only one I can think of to add would be Quella Vecchia Locanda's first.

![]() According to the lads themselves "Trespass" is the first true GENESIS album w/o Jonathan King´s lush orchestrations they didn´t like. King says he accepted no arguments about. Production and the end result of "From Genesis to Revelation" is King´s fantasy, not the boys´. He was the boss. Newborn Alphataurus & GENESIS REVISITED are the best ever happened in today´s prog and thus so special to be mentioned here. I know ´cos been there. GENESIS REVISITED EXTENDED LIVE is the best ever concert I have witnessed in the 2000´s. 3 hours of the classic (best) GENESIS music performed flawlessly by true enthusiasts & professional musicians & GENESIS music lovers and conducted by Maestro Steve Hackett himself. Me and my buddy closed our eyes and found ourselves shouting Knife ! And Nad Sylvan nailed the perfect illusion being in a GENESIS gig in the 70´s. Period. |
