'The Fools Overture' |
The one that is obviously a prog tune in structure, and might be used in an arguement whether ST are or aren't prog

All good suggestions, people, but I would have to go with:
"Even In the Quietest Moments" Hodgson is a miracle worker in that song.

the best songs to have on full blast. they bring back really nostalgiac
feelings.

For all the Supertramp lovers, I cannot recommend more strongly the album "Open the Door" by Roger Hodgson. It has only three reviews in the site, and a rather negative one by Sean Trane, that IMHO is not a review at all and should be deleted! But trust me: this is a wonderful piece of art rock, much better than anything Supertramp did after Roger left the band.
|
A great album indeed 4 stars from me, the title track is great, though a bit too much reminiscent of Fool's Overture.
Death And The Zoo is also a great track on the album,
|
I couldn't get into it, while I DO like the old Supertramp music. Maybe I should try again, but maybe it's just not for me |
Well it's not really the old supertramp sound, but it's quite close to it, with good piano and guitar based songs, the main difference is the absence of Rick Davies, and his normal contibutions, this may make the whole a bit lacking, but the mentioned songs can be fitted right into supertramps regular output. I really like the album, if you have it, give it another go.
from start to finish it's a great album, like I said not the best you can get (that would be either Crime or Even In The....) but it's easily as good as Famous last words, or Breakfast Well litle lie there, nothing is as good as Breakfast
|
I don't have it: I borrowed it from the library, but thanks... I'll give it another try

'Fool's Overture' for me is my favourite to listen to. As well as the entire "Crime" album.
'Give a Little Bit' is their biggest 'hit' methinks

Yes I do.
Lady, you come across the water, Well don’t you think you oughta? Be waiting a while, Are you acting, on what your heart has told you, Is nothing gonna’ hold you, from flying away, a-ha Flying away a-ha, flying away.
’cause there’s nowhere to go, Though the road is out stretching before you, And the farther you go, I said, -ain’t nothing gonna get you to heaven- I said, -ain’t nothing gonna get you to heaven- And you know just who you are And you know that there’s something between us, And you like what you feel, but -i can tell that you’re not gonna turn back- -well I can tell that you’re not gonna turn back- And don’t you know I’m a little bit sad, oh-no
Oh-la-la-la-la *4 arrgh *3
Mister, you better get a move on You better get a fix on, Mmm-you better walk straight. I said lady, oh just take me if you want me, oh, Take me as you find me, Oh, I’m needing your love so bad *3
And there’s nowhere to go, Though the road is out stretching before you, And the farther you go, I said, -ain’t nothing gonna get you to heaven- I said, -ain’t nothing gonna get you to heaven- And you know just who you are And you know that there’s something between us, and, You like what you feel, but, -i can tell that you’re not gonna turn back- But, -i can tell that you’re not gonna turn back- And don’t you know I’m a little bit sad, sad, sad, sad. (takin’ the long way, and no turning back) One of my favourite songs, alongsides with every other ST song. great

Well, I've not heard a lot of Supertramp, but I do like _Bloody Well Right_.
One of the members of Supertramp lives in Coombe Martin in Devon I
believe, as my Aunt and Uncle have met him, as they live there
too. Small world.
James.

Always a fun band to listen to, although none of their songs scores higher than 8/10 on my scale. Best: School.
