oh guys 144,000 like the Bible said? That is silly! Not even Camping believes that! He said it'd be 200 million that get raptured.
Ummm...but the bible says specifically 144,000. Look, either you believe the myth 100%, or you make up your own religion, like Mohammed. This picking and choosing of scriptural quotes is getting tedious.
Besides, as far as "predicting" the date of the rapture or the apocalypse, there is the following:
Matthew 24:36 -- But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Mr. Camping's got a lot of 'splaining to do with the Big G!
And Camping said 200 million so take which you prefer!
I believed the myth 0% just had to make sure the word of Camping was understood! I won't have people messing up his prophecy.
and lolol why would you even post the "proof" against Camping? Does it really even matter?

Merely pointing out that there are 144,000 virgins both very disappointed and also quite outraged that their select number is being sullied by these 199,856,000 commoners. I mean, really, saints must draw the line somewhere.

People trying to kill their children and attempting suicide because some idiot wants to increase his radio listeners and add commercial revenue? Mr. Camping should be held responsible for any deaths he caused (much like yelling "Fire!" in a theater).
That wouldn't be strange Dark Elf, you don't know how fanatic they are
Since some days ago, I been helping a Protestant guy (despite our differences) in informing people about the flaws in Camping's theory, tried the scientific age of earth and of course they said science is from Satan, then found not one, but at least 10 flaws in Camping's timeline.
But nothing, this people were obsessed, they simply said that I was against the Bible (Of course never said that we Catholics believe that a good part of the Genesis book is only allegoric, because Catholics are worst than killers for them)..
I used literal quotes from the Bible (I don't know the Bible thatvwell, appart from Abraham, Moses, Noah and a couple more guys, my knowledge of the Old Testament is very rusty)...........No, they still said I was misreading the Bible, it was like headbanging against a wall, they believed in Camping, not in the Bible they said to believe blindly.
What pisses me more is that if I found those flaws with little knowledge, I believe Harold Camping must know them and did nothing to clear them.
This people have been on the road since October 2010, all of them retired or quit their jobs, some even broke with their families others more naive gave all their savings for billboards, and they believe that if they are alive on May 22 is because God left them to die an horrible death with no hope for salvation...Don't you believe some of them may take the Kool Aid?
At the end I made three of them doubt, they told me they would wait for the rapture but if Camping failed they will accept it, it was enough for me to breathe with tranquility.
Sadly an image is imprinted in my mind, the two kids in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8dx1ff70JI
The guy is a complete fanatic, and I will never know if this two kids are OK, that's sad.

Well, our Sun will eventually turn into a red giant star and engulf the solar system. So the end will occur in the next 5 billion years at least. I don't think that will lend the sense of urgency Mr. Camp required for his radio show, however.

Oh, but I do, Ivan. Religious fanatacism, and not merely Christian zealotry, has become endemic around the world. One of the primary reasons I am irreligious is people's fanatic wish to kill and/or die for their supposedly benevolent god. If such a god expect sacrifices like strapping bombs to yourself or slitting your children's throats, then he doesn't deserve to be worshipped.

The insanity of these people isn't just in picking a random date of Christ's return, but how they view the whole process. Each day isn't anything. A day is an inaccurate measurement of time. A measurement that is only of value to us here on Earth. Do they really think that a holy God outside of time will mark a calender date for man's benefit? Time doesn't matter to him, and the Bible never actually says there will be a single instant when people will be raptured. Only the Father knows, the Father whose presence cannot be fathomed by man. It's frustrating that these people get all of the news coverage.
From the FAQ:
Q: How can we trust that you'll honor your service agreement? After all, you ARE atheists.
A: Being an atheist does not mean we lack
morals or ethics. It just means we don't believe in God or gods. All of
our representatives are normal folks who love and live for their family,
are gainfully employed, and have friends of varying beliefs. Some of
us are married to believers. Many of us volunteer our time at food
banks, animal shelters, meals on wheels organizations, etc. We fully
endorse the "Rule of Reciprocity", also known as "The Golden Rule." We
just happen not to believe in God(s). Belief in God does not ensure
righteousness, nor does non-belief imply immorality.

I predict Toto and Dire Straits will be added to Progressive Metal on March 12, 2034.
I predict by 2034 I will have finally bought PA and turn prog-metal into a genre that could include those two while creating a new subgenre called "really great prog metal bands" with DT in there...
Oh and in March 13 2034, one day after, Pat Shields is finally an Admin in PA. And Henry Plainview finally tells us his name, shows us his face, and smiles. And Robert has finally given up on beer only to get stuck on lefty wine...

Thanks God it ended, this was exhausting, more than debating with you guys.

Are you kidding? Nothing ended, people are at least as crazy today as they were yesterday. Whenever there's a doomsday cult and nothing happens on the day the world is supposed to end, some followers lose interest, but the others get even more fanatical. They thrive on faith in concepts which have no basis in reality, which makes them easy prey for people who know how to push their buttons. 21.5.11 didn't work out? Not to worry, we'll invent some excuse, set another date in the future, and simply ignore all evidence to the contrary. Faith is a virtue, remember?
By the way: Such doomsday cults are, from the standpoint of cultural evolution, crude drafts compard to "modern" religions. In Christianity for example it took only a few generations of believers to realize that in order to avoid such embarassing setbacks they had to modify their message so that it didn't include any predictions that can be falsified. People like Camping can be seen as glitches or bearers of freak mutations of the meme that is religion.

BTW: Obviously not all Christians are dicks ... the video is poorly named. But I would say that whoever uses arguments like the one presented in the video is being a dick.

I surely hope that one day you'll be able to apply reason and logic to your own position, too. There is no evidence of an afterlife, and not all religions can be true. As long as you call yourself a Catholic, from my perspective you're suffering from the same problem as your protestant friend and Harold Camping are - only you probably don't let it inform your actions as much as they do. But the underlying problem is that you believe without evidence.
