^Couldn’t have said it better myself
Truth be told, I have never ever made a poll on this site with the intent of finding a winner
Far more interesting to hear what people have to say about x piece that they’ve never heard:
‘Yowza! That’s some real shrimpin’ music!’

Looks like the voting has slowed, so just want to spend a moment to appreciate those of you who voted for Tom, and those who spent some of their moments on this planet, for listening.  I want to share a really different sort of review that happened while this poll was also ongoing.  Letters from the other side?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Nonetheless, I am happy he has been heard.  Thank you for giving me the chance to do this, here.  And I hope there will be more of these, I've got a few other worthy contenders with not quite so close a connection to me in the progressive music world to present.  https://progressiverockfanatics.wordpress.com/2020/06/20/love-nor-song-ever-ends/?fbclid=IwAR1Qgm6xsCZ_mo-cgmiVhXRsDfVWSxToPJBpm_FPsFw-1UaHzHvQPQjkxs4

I enjoyed a lot listening to this actually. Honestly it didn't reach my top ranks (to me it has something of a "going nowhere" feel to it) but it is very creative and unique. Some people think music quality is somehow "objective" but it makes such a difference for example if we personally know the musician and can properly hear what of the personality is in it. If I listen to it and try to get the person behind it through it, it's a very different experience from trying to "evaluate" it. And I guess it's the former not the latter that does more justice to the music! So thanks for sharing this!

I can hear what you are saying, it is a piece that comes at the end of a suite on the recording, so meant to be a resting place of sorts.  I definitely feel as if it's a "personality," piece, as you hear some of his humourous side here.  Thank you for your thoughts and kind words.  Smile

are we ready for a second prog round?

If your answer is yes, then I have a simple suggestion - catchy prog songs round, any subgenre, only rule is no famous songs or really famous bands. Big smile

I see I have the honour of having put forward the only track that absolutely nobody voted for. Wearing my pan with pride!

Still need to hear everything before casting my votes.

Voted earlier but didn't post who I voted for.

Kong - Lumberhome
Astrid Pröll - Pröll1
Maserati - Inventions

Several close, and it was a mood at the time kind of voting made a difference. Maybe it was the

Tom Kelly - Sloppy Love at Bodie Flats
Riff Raff - Original Man
Dreadnaught - Ballbuster (I really like them but I own the album so I did not put them in for vote)
Mimedyr - Mindlemjar

To be honest, doing two of these in a week (a prog one and a non-prog one) stretches the time I have for these things to the limit, at least if I want to listen well and properly to all of these.
But anyway, you go ahead if you want. I'm responsible for my own time management.

I recommend you find a way to set some quantitative parameters to you qualitative pre-requisites. Avoid yourself some daft arguments.

I thought it would be an easy task: a catchy song from a prog artist, any prog subgenre, no famous songs, no famous prog artists. What daft arguments could come out of this? Confused

I posted this in the non-prog #9 Poll re the same, perhaps a solution?  I think people are kind of enthusiastic about this new polling approach, both for prog and non-prog artists.  I see the point of not saturating it, I could see how it would be less fun if one was feeling too pressured to really listen, which could take the enjoyment out of the process.  I am retired, so have time.  I could see, for people who are working, fitting it in as something enjoyable to do, on top of their other living needs and other enjoyments, it could actually feel stressful to have too much at once.  Maybe if each week alternated, a prog and a non-prog poll?  Wondering how others feel.

Where is your "famous" line? Anytime you use a qualifier like that without applying some measurable reference point you leave it to as many subjective points of view is you have participants. Invariably someone comes in with the mindset that the only "famous prog band" is Pink Floyd and drops Starship Trooper or Epitaph or similar. "Famous" is absolutely not going to mean the same thing to everyone.

you underestimate people around here. They've known what to post so far and the main rule was no famous artists and songs.

If somebody thinks Yes and KC are not famous here on PA, I'm gonna laugh out loud.

Let's say same rule as in this poll - no artists from the top 100. If people want to be very specific.
