I can honstly say that for me this only applies to one artist and that's Tori Amos. Not a band and not even on these pages. Not one dud album, not even a dud song.
Close, but not quite 100% are Jethro Tull and Dream Theater.
Jethro Tull have had quite a slump towards the end of their era, but up until Roots to Branches every single album was flawless. Suddenly those fantastic melodies were gone.
Every Dream Theater album has the same problem, and that's John Myung's bass. Can only hear an underlying rumble, and that's it. Apart from that, DT's albums are near perfect.

To say "can do NO wrong" is a pretty big order as has already been pointed out. Putting aside all the bands with limited discographies (3 albums or less) I'd have to say King Crimson, After Crying. Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, Thomas Dolby, The Police. And just a whack of other bands that come so close but somehow managed to sneak in a stinker or two or the years as to preclude their inclusion on this it.

Well, Kate Bush has only fallen below par once with the awful "The Line, The Cross and The Curve" (or whatever it was called) film but the most consistend band for me is Led Zep, who never really slipped below an incredibly high standard until "Hot on for Nowhere" from "Prescence". Even then there were extenuating circumstances.

Like many here, the term 'can do no wrong' might be a bridge too far but there are certainly artists and bands which I will buy their new album no matter what *thinks* Hmmm....probably these guys:
King Crimson
Peter Gabriel
XTC
Jellyfish (if they were still going)
England (same as Jellyfish really)
Porcupine Tree
There are loads of cool bands out there which I'd LIKE to think can do no wrong e.g. Tool, Daft Punk and Kate Bush but if truth be told, although they all rock my world, they have come up short at times too.

When it comes to bands with 3 or more albums only maudlin of the Well, Transatlantic, In the Woods... and White Willow really qualify for me as bands that have done no wrong (in maudlins case the demo tracks that mar Bath on the reissue were the idea of Dark Symphonies and not Toby Driver so I dont count them).

Yes, I have to agree with you there Sleeper. White Willow are a very consistent band quality wise.

Same here! Tool are easy to list as they only have 3 albums out... Many bands have made 3 great albums. So are Cynic...

I'm a bit surprised of the mentions Sigur Rós is getting, I didn't know Von was so loved. Everything from that album onwards is brilliant I think, but the debut for me is two stars max.

Ah, a fellow Amos fan.  Yeah, I've got her whole studio discography, some live stuff, and some DVDs, God came close to one song I might dislike, but that's primarily due to over-exposure.
From a strictly prog perspective, all the artists in the top 10 that I am totally familiar with have come up short here or there. Possibly Mahavishnu or DiMeola, though I know that feeling isn't mutual for everyone around here. Phideaux for sure for me though I haven't heard Friction. And there are pretty harsh critics of him on this site, but what do I care?

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Of course Test for Echo is a little weak in comparation to the great albums, or maybe the previous Counterparts. but they CAN DO NO WRONG, that for sure.
If i think... yes... I like all Zeppelin albums, and almost all Opeth's.
What about Radiohead? (don't mind if Pablo is prog or not... who cares).

Bands whose every song on every (original) album has never failed me? Ok, here ya go (below). And to put a finer point on it: I could listen to each of these bands entire discography of albums and be lovin' every single tune on every album.
The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Tool
A Perfect Circle
The Black Keys
Now, that's only a list of your more popluar/traditional Rock, Prog, etc types of music. If I were allowed to include my first true musical love (the blues), then this list grows pretty rapidly.
I think it's notable that I cannot put what I view as my "favorite" Progressive Rock band on the list: Rush. As with many others; they kinda lost me after Signals. Since then, the only excitement I tend to have over a new Rush album is that it means they'll be touring again.

Really? I think it's probably the worst solo he did, but then it was a rush job as the Stones were waiting to use the studio.

Well 5 albums in (with the 6th due this month) and Big Big Train have yet to record a bum track. Then IQ are probably the next best rated for consistancy.

The Police!!! What about DeDoDooDoDe Da DDa or whatever it's called. I don't like the Police but they did produce some good pop music but also some utter sh*te as my girlfriend's CD collection will testify to.
