What do you think of the Fall btw? | the friggin acid mothers templeand ive never heard the fall water they liek pls | need to listen to more acid mudders templar
And describing the Fall is perhaps the third hardest task there is. They're post-punk, but in an unusual way (kind of like This Heat, but they don't necessarily sound like This Heat). Perhaps the best way of putting it is that they simultaneously sound like they don't know at all what they're doing and like they know exactly what they're doing. Intelligent, imaginative, jarring, high-octane are all descriptors that could apply. Insanely quotable lyrics too. I suggest starting with Hex Enduction Hour. |
listen to absolutely freak out right now its amazinating
I'm not a post-punk man but if anything about them is insane i will tryesque that hacks in ducks shawn ow err

I said jarring and high-octane not experimental. Ex: This Heat is more experimental, but not necessarily as jarring or high octane.

I'm waiting to get my headphones back from my brother (he took them to school). I swear on my elbows I'll listen to it, though.

Listening to Absolutely Freak Out right now. So far I'm liking it, very Reich-esque, but they aren't freaking out.

I like it so far. The voice in the third track (I think it's the third?) does sound like several Pokemon morphed into one.
@matt I see you've been listening to Max Richter. I thought of him when you said you were listening to Nils Frahm.

John Cage is gud for that sometimes, albeit a bit different from Max Richter and friends. The In a Landscape album performed by Stephen Drury is a good one if you're ever in that mood again. If you're willing to go for bigger ensembles, John Luther Adams' Dark Waves and John Adams' Dharma at Big Sur are also very good.

I'll try to remember to listen to those. Artists in the style I am looking for are like Tim Hecker and Olafur Arnald. Even something more like Kashiwa Daisuke is good too.
