Dark

Only a handful of copies were pressed, and Giles, who had a strong interest in photography, made the first twelve copies into full-colour gatefold sleeves, complete with booklets of photographs stapled together, augmented with handwritten notes. They were handed out to band members and their girlfriends! These are now valued at £1,500 by Record Collector who valued copies which came with a black and white gatefold sleeve at £1,350, and those which came in a single black and white sleeve - at £1,200 in their December 1993 issue. A total of 65 copies were reissued in all and each came with a lyric booklet and sold originally for £3!

I have the original vinyl LP with the gatefold sleeve in mint condition, for 20 dollars.

FRACTION - Moonblood (1970)

The rockabilly/christian rock band FRACTION released only one album in 1970 titled MOONBLOOD.The name came directly from the bible, in which the moon was turned to blood. That's another story though. The members of this band are all alive:-) The members are as follows:
  • Jim Beach: Lead Vocals
  • Don Swanson: Lead Guitar
  • Curt Swanson: Percusion
  • Victor Hemme: Bass Guitar
  • Robert Meinel: Rhythm Guitar
  • Mike Hodges: Cover Artist

Fraction is said to be legendary, with Morrison-like vocals, and Richie Blackmore- style guitar solos. They are definitley remenescent of The Doors.

An original Fraction Moonblood LP, with the red celophane covered moon emblem album cover still in-tact, with a mint LP, is worth about $3500+ depending on how bad the collector wants it. Though these hard to find albums may still be afloat, a brand new cd with the original cover art was just released by Rock-A-Way Records in L.A., California. They are available for $15, which is a steal! Yes, there have been many bootlegged-fakes, in circulation, but mind you, the new album has been endorsed by the real thing, Fraction! There are three previously unreleased tracks on the new cd. The original album cover was designed by Mike Hodges.

Taken from "Angelfire.com".

Oh, I also have an album by England (not that one) on vinyl, that apparently is worth over 400 pounds. Irony is that I bought it for 23 dollars LOL

Ben - "Ben" (Vertigo 1971)

Ben's album is now extremely rare and valuable, partly due to the famous Vertigo 'swirl'. In good condition the original (Italian issue) vinyl LP can now fetch anything up to £500.

In 1971 BEN released an extremely rare jazz-prog album in the wake of the more famous bands such as NUCLEUS and SOFT MACHINE.

I think this band should be added in the Archives ( Jazz-rock / Fusion ).

Nothing ULTRA SUPER rare, but still...

Black Sabbath - Paranoid

Remastered CD with a misprint in the booklet. Only a few pages are from the Paranoid album, the rest are from some Small Faces album

Black Sabbath - Forbidden, Headless Cross, TYR
Not SUPER rare, but still out of print

Ozric Tentacles - Erpsongs, Tantric Obstacles, Live Ethereal Cereal, There is nothing, Bits between the Bits
Original CD pressings, as part of the "Vitamin Enhanced" Boxset but bought seperatly. For some reason i didn't buy "Sliding Gliding Worlds". I regret it BIG to this day because it's pretty hard to find in the original pressing!

Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent, Erpland, Strangeitude, Live Underslunky
The original CD pressings from the early 90's. Strangeitude is also SIGNED Smile

Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
Original vinyl Shocked Got it for about $4

I have a vinyl copy of Alpha Ralpha.

I didn't think it was rare, but after a few attempts to discuss about this band on PA, it seems nobody knows it.

Not much on the band on the Internet either.  Some say it's Canadian, but I believe it's a French band that recorded in Canada.

I don't know any CD version, which I would gladly buy, since MPx sound is too thin.

Huminoida - Self-titled (no, it's not titled Huminoida) 7"

Ambient-electro-industrial-experimental weirdness. It may be limited to 300 BUT side B on this 7" is hand carved by the band members so they're all unique. Haven't tried playing it yet because on the front there's a sticker that says: "Due to the extreme pressing technique used on side B we do not recommend to play it with any conventional record player."http://www.theground.com/catalog/images/album29136.jpg

Of course, 'local' albums are certainly rare. But I have a copy of the Ocean's 'Fogdiver' EP; it even has the band's postal code and address!

CD versions of National Health's D.S. al Coda and Brand X's Is There Anything About. Both certainly are known amongst prog fans but are definitely hard to find. I got both of em off gemm.com for thirty bucks apiece which apparently was the only website selling them.

I couldn't scan the whole LP cover since I only have an A4 scanner. But this album of 1973 of an American prog band called Baxter is quite unique. There is almost no info on the internet. It's symphonic prog, mixed with some AOR. Especially the longer tracks are prog in the '70 style and good!

This is a scan of the backside of the LP cover...
The album id is PAS-6050.
I bought it in a record shop in the Netherlands somewhere in the mid '70. Can't find much about this album anywhere, so it must be rather unique.
To be the one who seeks so I may find .. (Metallica)

Same here.  My proudest possession would probably be the North American version of Pawn Hearts on vinyl.

The rarest prog albums I own are the ones from my country probably. Because they are albums of bands very little known outside Argentina (hell, they are not even well known here..). Albums such as:

Abismos Del Tiempo-Atempo
Astronauta Olvidado-Bauer
La Unica Posicion Es La Oposicion-Honduras Libregrupo
Corsario Negro-Los Natas
Mascaras Urbanas-Rael
Living Fossils-William Gray

Then the rest of the Argentinian Prog albums I own are of bands that are more famous at least in our prog community (bands like Nexus, Espiritu, Bubu, La Maquina De Hacer Pajaros, Invisible, MIA, El Reloj, Alas, etc.)
One of my favorite out of these is Archivos MIA (1974-1985)...which is a double CD with a wonderful packaging, similar to a book, consisting of unreleased material from the band. A real gem.
