I made a list of albums and I got a captcha error (it's annoying as...), so here is a list of bands whose debut albums are great (= I love'em)
Camel Gentle Giant Eloy Jane Soft Machine Procol Harum Renaisance Marillion IQ Twelfth Night Threshold Enchant Anekdoten Subsignal Pain of Salvation and many others...

Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant
Saga - Saga Camel - Camel Cressida - Cressida Queen - Queen Kate Bush- The Kick Inside Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells On purpose I didn't include bands like U.K., because it's a supergroup and the musicians have already debuted years ago, so it's not fair compared to young musicians who started out.

Leg End
Kobaia - may not be a great Magma album, but certainly a great freaky jazz rock album. |

^ Good one. Also, the Flower King if that can be counted as a debut album.
My personal favorite is possibly the debut by ELP but there are others.

ELP no doubt... in part for having what many, including myself, consider to having one of the most perfect album sides ever.
Barbarian, Take a Pebble, Knife's Edge. sh*t those 3 slay most bands COLLECTIVE output... and those were merely the 3 openers of their debut. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer... they didn't create prog.. they merely defined it and yes... brought it to the masses like NO group did.

look up Prog Rock in the dictionary.... I'll bet my paycheck that in 9 cases out of 10... you will find ELP.
![]() They defined both its highs and its lows...its excesses hahah... not to mention influenced prog like NO other single group. Directly gave rise the 2nd greatest secondary prog scene (RPI) which started after ELP blew everyone away at IoW 1970. Every single prog band in its own way owes to ELP, not mention pretty much every single rock keyboardist. nah.. perhaps poorly explained on my part... completely accurate to say that they did Ian.

Well if Banco's debut is mentioned then you also have to mention "storia di un minuto."

You owe me your paycheck, first four of five didn't mention them, even this site lists them after King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Soft Machine. I can think of many bands who owe them nothing.
