I just bought that Battles album, I haven't given it a close listen yet, but my first impression is that I like it a lot more than I liked Gloss Drop.  But it's been a long time since I heard Gloss Drop, and I was in a bad mood when I listened to it.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle if it is lightly greased.

Like i said, the vocals are the acquired part. Fantastic band and their best album right there.
