So why do you really have this vendetta against Peart?  You show up with your BS every time there's a drum poll. You'd think he insulted you presonally or something.  And your BS comes from this little sample of hearing him drum. Whatever credibility you had pretty much vanished when you came out with that info.

Peart has been the best drummer in the world since 1989.

I don't have a vendetta about Peart; you should read what I wrote about hnm  I have a vendetta against those who make the übermusician out of him. He isn't, and neither is anyone else.

Yeah. You're sounding a little DRIVEN. I suggest that you chill out and ROLL THE BONES, with maybe each of the COUNTERPARTS allowing the other ONE LITTLE VICTORY. At least demonstrate a little GRACE UNDER PRESSURE, and maybe even try to get a little CLOSER TO THE HEART.

Odin knows why you are so worried about this. So far only 11 people have voted him the best drummer ever. Even I only put him in my top 5. I don't think you should worry about what other people think. I don't troll your threads about Christian vander or whatever.

And that particular CARESS OF STEEL would certainly make some PERMANENT WAVES.

I don't make the überdrummer out of Vander or anyone else. He is one of my favourites, that's all,. Fanboysim in any way is obnoxious to me. I don't go and say "this or that musician is the best ever". It is an insult to every other musician.

Honestly, why should Neil Peart be especially popujlar in, for example, India when they have a succesful native drummer like Ramesh Shotham who has recorded over 120 albums druin gthe last 30 odd years., some of them sith leading jazz and rock musicans from all over the world, and I mean all over the world. He always has several projects going at the same time; here are two videos of him, one wiith his jazz-rock  band, which is heavily influenced by Indian music, but in a differnt way than Shakti, one with Roman Bunka of Embryo and Roland Sxchaeffer of Guru Guru (or you could also say with the band RoRo, since that is how Bunka and Schaeffer named their two-man act).

Other prog musicians Shotham has played with are Rabih Abou-Khalil pr the late Cgarlie mariano (he died last year) of the United Jazz and Rock Ensemble (and many other jazz and jazz-rock acts).
That you probably never heard of Shotham does not surprise mer, but believe me, the Indians know him a lot better than Peart.

Really?  This is the first time I have heard of his name.  Tongue   Zakir Hussain - check.  Vikku Vinayagaram - check. T V Gopalakrishnan - check.  (all legendary traditional percussionists, NOT drummers) Trilok Gurtu - check.  Sivamani - check.  Ramesh Shotham?  Sorry, no clue. You not only purport to know that Peart is not popular in Germany but everywhere else in the world except USA/Canada.  I would be interested to know who do you think are some popular composers in India (I hope you are aware that film music to this day reigns supreme in India?) and I might then be able to tell you just how popular they really are here. Wink

As I said, Shotham has been around for over 30 years already. He shares a quality with Trilok Gurtu though: Both have played with the German band Embryo.
Shotam is a drummer and percussionist. He is, like almost every Indian percussionist, well schooled in the tala tarangini., the highly complicated Indian art of playing percussion. The late Charlie Mariano, a player of saxes, flute and nagaswaram, studied these Indian rhythms too, which is how he came in conttact with Shotham.
I did not say Peart is not popular in these countries. I merely say he is not as popular there as has been claimed. "Most popular drummer on the planet" - sorry, no.
It appears to me that Rush fans suffer from a kind of inferiority complex because Rush were not around when prog started and onlyjoined in a few years later., And they are trying  to compensate it with a superiority complex about Rush's musicians, especially Peart.
As I mentioned before: Peart is certainly a very skilled drummer, but not better or worse skilled than at least a dozen others. But for a true Peart fan rthis is of course not enough; as long as I don't bow my knee and shout  "All hail Peart the überdrummer!" they won't be satisfied. Sorry guys, but I understand a bit about drumming since I am a drummer myself, and you won't hear that from me.

Something i have found Living Here In North America (Canada) is it can be tend to be a bit insular as far as Art and music goes compared to Europe  (I have Lived in UK, Holland,France and Italy) so if its Big and Popular here then  ergo the World to them.

Just a small  Observation from Englishman  In Canada. so hence you might get a statement  such as
Neil Peart is greatest drummer in the World ever (sic)

Yes, because clearly Jim and Tony R don't live in the UK or anything.

Interesting as Neil is know for his percussion battery but I haven't seen him play with a stripped down set.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
