My chum, John Goodsall, shared this on his Facebook page.  He says this was recorded by "Brand X West," which was basically his "Fire Merchants" lineup. 

I forgot how good this particular song is, this is a nice treatment of the original!

^That's one opinion I guess.  I heard it many years ago and rather liked it. Still holds up IMHO.

Too much twang in the guitar, needs much more power in the bass, decent if not fantastic singing but God I wish this drummer had played on the original.

I have that album and it does have some good covers.  My favorite is Mother Gong's version of In The beginning.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
