Love Sigur Ros and pretty much have everything by them, they remain one of my bucketlist bands
BUT
Come On!! It's Henry Cow!! They are one of the original 5 RIO bands that created the sub-genre, and arguably the most important!!
HC for me.

Most of what I heard of SR leaves me cold, but some stuff... Still, Cow makes interesting music overall. One vote for Henry Dairy

There aren't too many bands that I would take Henry Cow over, but Sigur Ros is one of those bands.

I've enjoyed what I've heard from HC so far, although it's gone a bit over my head. Sigur Rós is one of my absolute favourite artist, so this was an easy vote.

I don't get it - there is no point of comparison. I am a huge fan of the Cow but I like SR as well.
Now, if you pitted Henry Cow against contemporaries such as Rush (as I often did with my mates in the late 70s despite being outnumbered) the Cow wins by a country mile. In fact, the Cow often bettered Rush at their own game at times...

don't look for deep meanings. It may be prog but it is still music. It is a fun band v. band competition. Draws were done randomly. Generally the more extreme the stylistic differences that came up were the more interesting contests though still not always close in vote totals. Prog fan usually enjoys multiple styles and it can be fun to be put on the spot and have to choose.

I didn't get that it was a random thing - well, that explains a lot! Cheers!

ahhh. Still haven't voted on this one.
Unlike the Magma-Hawkwind which was two bands I love, this one is of two I really haven't connected with.
Giving it to Sigor Ros. Maybe the kiddies will stop bitching the young groups get no love over the moldie oldies haha.
A tie now.

and Sigur Ros has jumped ahead! Can a modern band actually defeat a classic band and make the 2nd round!

C'mon - is this even a contest? Legends (leg-ends?) versus Sigur Ros.
I voted Cow, and apparently they needed it for some reason ...
