Topic: 2nd Round Classics: Discipline v. Mirage Posted: July 19 2015 at 10:47 |
Presumably me, I rate Moonmadness, Snow Goose & Mirage above the rest of their catalog. I like the debut but not up with the next 3.

Yes, very seriously.
Camel are a far better band than KC. In every respect. |
Hey Hercules no issue, we're pretty much diametrically opposed on musical choices, I love seeing your posts I can pretty much predict exactly where we'll stand.
I like Camel a lot, they have three great albums but don't I don't find much else that moves me much. On the other hand I have upwards of 30 Crimson albums and love them all. I find them a much more talented, interesting, moving & experimental band, but hell that's just me. |
It's all down to personal taste.
Camel hit every button which is needed to comprise great music for me. Melody, emotion, great musicianship and sufficient musical complexity without ever descending into self indulgence. They've been my favourite band since 1975 (when I first heard The Snow Goose) and only IQ have ever come near to deposing them.
A appreciate that what KC do is very clever and often innovative, but I don't enjoy listening to most of it.
We're each entirely entitled to have our own opinions and differ amicably.

Yeah, different tastes n'at. The only Camel albums I could grok were Mirage, Camel, Snow Goose, and Moonmadness, more or less in that order. After that, it gets a bit soft rock for me. Much prefer Crimson in just about every way imaginable, especially the guitars, vocals, drums ... Well, you get the idea! Still like Camel, though! Music is not an either or thing for me. Sometimes Mirage scratches an itch Crimso can't.

I know I know..I was weak and I was almost seduced by the dark side... don't worry though.. my near corruption into mindless prog fan was not that far advanced. I'd have voted for a Celine Dion or Neal Morse album before I even considered voting for a SWilson album

Yeah, I can only marvel at how infectious Discipline is. And full of energy too. Farthest thing from cold imo, a description that would fit some other KC albums.

I wasn't sure of my vote until I saw Discipline behind in the poll. So, here's another vote for Discipline.

I can't do it.. I just can't do it.. hah.. you almost got me there. I almost jumped to the defense of a Camel album. I tried.. but just couldn't do it. You win.. Mirage and Camel suck. Vote for Discipline people!!!!!
