I considered it to be an excellent first release, and particularly enjoy the song "Sole Survivor."
I even saw the band on their first tour (in the Chicago Auditorium Theater), they were excellent!
However, that LP received so much radio airplay that I lost interest in the band and never picked up on their later releases, although I believe there is some good material on some of those.

Very good AOR for the time. I never listen to it nowadays (haven't for years), partly due to the FM overplay it sustained, and partly to the sea of reverb that engulfed it.

I wasn't into it at the time but I like it now. Enjoyable but not brilliant.

I can enjoy the whole album if I listen to it, but nothing that I will really love... except for "Only Time will Tell", I guess.

I was just already into Yes, ELP, and Crimso when I discovered this cassette in my sister's collection back in the mid-80's.......I listened (and really liked) what I heard...........And to this day, I treasure my Asia s/t LP coz it's truly a goodie................

Everyone had the first Asia album.....it was written and performed to be sold, that's it. Everything from the name of the band to the album cover to the production - it's product for mass consumption. It wasn't bad either.....Heat and Sole were huge radio singles and on the air constantly. Catchy stuff. The problem is the second album didn't have any catchy singles, thus the album sputtered. Loyal fans bought it and casual fans bought a Dire Straits album instead.

I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

One thing that really bothers me about the first album is that, at least since the reunion, they had to play the whole album. So we don't get so many interesting things in the live albums. I think it would have been more interesting if they had played some songs from the other eras of the band, and perhaps even some more covers from their mother bands.
