I recently picked up a used copy of the Canadian band but haven't spun it yet so no vote. I'm a huge fan of the French band though, makes me want to play them right now.

Nice poll Darryl! As a matter of fact I've just played Qualia today.
John I'm sure you'll dig the Canadian Syrinx album, although it has some classical influences it has a lot in common with krautrock imo. It is truly a unique gem.
Hard but I'll give it to the Maurin brothers this time.

French Syrinx for me. The Canadian one's alright but Reification and Qualia are both masterpieces for me.

I agree with both of you when it comes to the Maurin brothers and the French Syrinx. And thanks Sagi for the info on the Canadian band, you know how I love Krautrock. I have a review lined up for tomorrow that has some classic Krautrock on it.

Never heard them before, but the second is better than the other. Which of the two is "fusion"? I'd put both in eclectic

A couple of years ago I would've voted for the Maurin brothers for sure. These days though I tend to reach for my NIL records over Syrinx (btw these guys also have a band called Thork which is highly recommended - a band Sagi already touched upon)...and the Canadian Syrinx feels more fresh as I only recently got a copy for myself. So yeah Canada all the way

I'm a big fan of the Syrinx/Nil/Thork family so my vote goes to France.
Samuel Maurin has a band called Adam's Circle now:
The Canadian one isn't shabby either though...

Although the French Syrinx is highly accomplished, the Canadian Syrinx floats my boat more.
