 Topic: Can, Gong or Magma?

Maybe a bit unfair since we just lost an ex member from Can but regardless I would like to know which band people on here prefer.
Please don't vote for any of 1-5 unless you are at least moderately familiar with all of them(preferably at least 2-3 albums of each). Thanks.

Magma easy. Gong and Can weren't even good in the early 70s. Magma is probably as good as Gong and Can combined
|

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Three of the greats but its either Magma of Can. As most of you seem to be going for the former - I'll give my vote to the latter.

Voted for "all equally." I really can't pick. I was gravitating towards Magma at first, but I was reminded of how much I love Can and Gong. These three bands are at the same level for me and choosing one would only be determined by my mood.

Saw Gong and Magma at the same concert. Nearly fell asleep during Gong. Magma was epic and has been every other time I saw them. Can never did anything for me.

Option 4 for me; all three are in my top ten bands (besides Amon Düül 2, Embryo, Hawkwind, Van der Graaf Generator, Guru Guru, King Crimson and Popol Vuh). This list may look different on any other day. To qualify for this list the band in question must have produced at least ten albums.

I don't like any of them much. I can listen to some Gong, but Can and Magma do nothing for me.

Steve 'Interesting' Davis interviewed Daevid Allen a few years ago, who reflected on when Gong used to tour France with Magma. Allen said something like, 'we used to watch Magma and say: we've gotta be more disciplined! Then, Magma would watch us and say: we've gotta be more spontaneous'! (Can - sorry to fans out there, but they never cut it for me in the lead vocalist department...)

Magma and Gong often both played at the same festival. Christian Vander once said in an interview that never ever both bands were good; either Magma were good, then Gong were bad, or Gong were good, then Magma were bad

All great bands but Can give me just that tiny little extra bit of wild limitless enthusiam (where they were good; they weren't always good of course).
On top of this, it seems that the giant amount of material of Can members after the end of the band is largely unknown (significant parts even unknown to me), but crawling through the post-Can output of Czukay, Liebezeit, Schmidt, Suzuki and Karoli, there are numerous further gems of a calibre that rivals any prog act including the big ones easily.

Interesting to see the results(so far)and see the responses. Thanks for voting. I'm going to do another similar poll with three other bands(from roughly the same time period)soon.
I personally don't know Gong that well but I do like Can and Magma. Out of those bands I have never seen Gong or Can(although I did see Steve Hillage once)and Magma three times. It would not be fair for me to vote for Magma though(imo).
