Senator Rand Paul, if you really need an expert to tell you that testing is necessary to keep a pandemic under control you are just plain dumb.

Thinking that less testing results in less cases is like saying the the food is still good if you don't check the expiry date.

Rand Paul kind of reminds me of Newt Gingrich. He says a lot of big words, talks fast, but ends up making no sense at all or is completely wrong. Sort of like an "intellectual in disguise" con man.

I find more fault with the "no knock" warrant procedure this time around. Putting cops into a heighted state of anxiety has always been a recipe for disaster.

True. Also it makes me wonder whether that grand jury verdict was completely tone deaf, intended to cause further unrest, or both.

I agree that it was a worst-case scenario of a no knock situation.  The police officers were doing their jobs and were fired upon so they returned fire.  Obviously, mistakes were made.  They did a poor job of surveillance if they thought that she was alone.  It seems as though the police may have also had faulty information.

Not to blame the victim, but if she knew her ex-boyfriend was a drug dealer and if she continued to "allow" him to have his drugs shipped to her apartment then she is not as innocent as the media is making her out to be.  Not that she deserved to be killed, but being involved in criminal activities does have risks.

I don't know the facts well enough to know how ex he was.  Was it a recent break-up or had they broke up months ago?  Did she aid him by allowing him to have the drugs delivered to her apartment or did he have them delivered to her apartment without her permission?  The thing that bothers me the most is if the police thought she was in the apartment by herself why did they feel the need to perform a no knock raid at midnight instead of just confronting her during the day?  Element of surprise so she couldn't flush the drugs?

The whole thing is just sad and unfortunate, but I can understand why criminal charges were not brought against the police officers.  But I can also understand why that result makes a lot of people very unhappy.

So remember: if some gang breaks into your house, don't defend yourself because you never know, it might be the police.

I'm not sure how you got that out of my post, but OK.  I think that the moral of the story should be don't participate in criminal activity if you don't want the police breaking down your door.  (Sadly, this sounds like it was more of a case of "guilt by association".)

In order to charge the police officers with crimes there would have had to have been criminal intent.  The grand jury did not believe that there was criminal intent.  Poor judgement and bad police work has lead to people being fired and a civil settlement of $12M is a pretty large payment for this terrible mistake. They could possibly charge them with negligent homicide, but if the boyfriend fired first as is reported, then the officers were justified in returning fire and not criminal.  The whole situation sucks.

The police conduct thousands of these type of raids/arrests each year and my guess is most of the time they are justified, they are at the right house, and the right people are arrested, and nobody is killed.  Unfortunately, odds are incidents like this one will happen once in a while.  They go to the wrong address.  They have bad intel.  The criminal that they are looking for doesn't live at the address any more.  I don't know how that happens.  You would hope that it wouldn't happen.  But unfortunately it does.  People make mistakes.  It doesn't make them criminals though.  It also doesn't make them racist.

How is he not in Trump's inner administration circle? He'd just seem normal there.

My post was nothing more than an affirmation of your post. Whatever more that you've read into it is totally of your imagination.
